I tested a half dozen 3 woods a couple weeks ago. I went in with the mindset that I was going to get the Mizuno TS220, as I have the Mizuno driver and both of the Mizuno clubs are gorgeous. I didn't have my mind made up before walking in the door however and I hit numerous 3 woods as a comparison. I walked out with the Tour Edge Exotics instead. I simply hit that one better. On average, I got better dispersion, less mis-hits, and more distance with the Tour Edge than the Mizuno. I bought a big bucket of balls and hit shot after shot going back and forth. The Tour Edge just won. Mind you, I didn't try the Titleist this video compares against, but I tried several others. I hit the Tour Edge the best. I think one of the things that sucks about KZbin reviews is that, for the reviewer, they may or may not like a particular club, but that can be based on any number of factors that simply don't apply to an average golfer. This guy James Robinson is probably a better swinger than 90 percent of the people watching these reviews. There are so many factors in a person's swing or style that might contribute to club choice selection. At the end of the day, which club do you hit better? For me, it was the Tour Edge.

Seems quite clear that it should have been compared to a higher spin, high moi 3 wood. TS3 is a low spin product. Tour edge needs a low spin version of the 220 line if they want any chance of getting in better players bags.

Good point. Perhaps this is how Alex Etches hit the CBX119 270+, one of them carried 289 in his review. I'm not convinced Tour Edge should stop making clubs or that average golfers should forget about them...
@mvansb234 жыл бұрын
And then the matter of the shiels review - it’s not fair to take a club that was likely fit to him and comparing to an out of the box club. His first two shots he almost missed. Suggesting swingweight or length or something was way off from the cobra f7 he compared it to. Only way a golfer as good as shiels could nearly miss the entire clubface two shots in a row. Unfortunately for tour edge and all smaller brands, it’s too expansive for them to enter the custom fit world in a big way. So they are always going to be at a bit of a disadvantage.

In the states, any Exotics product is a discount product, for those that can't afford the other OEM offerings. It almost always under-performs the other OEMs but close enough for average, price-conscious, players. Because of that, I can't believe there is only £20 difference from a TS3. That is not cheap enough to justify buying Exotics over Titleist. Price that thing at £179 or something like that, and there may be a market but not worth it at £239 imo.
@joshlynch56764 жыл бұрын
It makes 0 sense to price at that rate for the UK. $179 would even be steep IMO. Should be $149. £179 is much more reasonable. They're not aiming at the right market here lol.

I'm still using my Tour Edge Comp LX irons... 18 years after I got them. I've not been able to justify to cough up the absurd amount of money a set of name brand irons would cost. They may not be as long as the modern "high-tech" irons out there, but they're "true lofts" and forgive almost any mishit. I'm still grieving my lost 9-iron since it's more or less impossible to find any of these fine clubs out there. That being said, if shiny high-end brand is not an issue for golfers, I believe Tour Edge is a dark horse to be considered. It's a shame they're not really on the European market.

Fantastic, now I can tell everyone its the club not me! :P Alex Etches - GolfBox TV hits the Exotics CBX119 270+ in his review. Just sayin'. Looking to see if he reviewed the TS3 to compare... I game the 2019 EXS 3w/5w and hit them more consistently than the Cleveland Classic XL I had before, however I don't have a PGA Pro swing. I think when I begin hitting 3w 240+ (towards the green, not trees) I will begin to get upset about missing 5-10 yards and replace them promptly! Finally I get to see folks who can swing well test these clubs, info I wanted badly. Still fits the bang for buck model in my opinion (I buy used). Though, Mizuno seems to be a better contender in this price as I'm learning through your reviews. Mizuno is the rest of my bag now (and may be the whole bag when I opt for new woods). Thanks again!

Wouldn't you want more spin going into a green on your second shot on a par 5? I get you don't want more spin off the tee but if you are using a 3 wood off the tee you are obviously trying to put a ball in a certain position, not trying to hit it as far as possible. I don't have any love for any certain brand of club, just curious of why you would not want more spin on clubs you hit into the greens.

You can't heel a shot and expect it to go the same distance, adding a lot of spin will destroy any shot. The Exotics did just fine, if anything, dispersion looks much better. Distance is not everything that should be considered here.
@ryanburnham52714 жыл бұрын
Wow, you're right! I just watched a Peter Finch video where he compared the Cobra Speedzone, TM Sim, and Mavrik drivers. One of them was on average something like 15-20 yards shorter. Better not buy from that company then...?! My Exotics aren't getting listed on ebay now because James hit them 10 yards shorter with more spin and doesn't really like them, LOL! There's psychology around brand name, to be sure, so I'd still advise get the club you want to swing.
