I had the exact same impression when I was there. About the tradition. I think that when Meji became emperor he said that Japan should strive to pursue technologies and ideas from all over the world but at the same time keep their old tradition. I think they really put that to heart. Its amazing.

Ryky san. Enjoy your journey in Japan and that wasn´t bad thing to learn at all. Nowadays we have too little respect to each other and that is something what I wanted to preserve to the youth. Here in Finland we have little of respect left to each other and we don´t mumble "small talk". We talk when we have something to say otherwise we respect peoples space/harmony. Japan is one of the places where I would like to visit someday but I have to do that in next life.

And the beauty of that all respect is that one doesn't need to be Christian/Jewish, Actually these will never be able to be as kind as because their world is all about good and bad.
