He's done videos like these for years, the only difference was it used to be for big name/popular games like Smite and Far Cry Primal. Because of his politics/controversies related to politics he isn't able to do sponsored videos for games like those anymore. Hell even for the "less contentious" content creators I see all they're able to do anymore for sponsors is also either mobile games or things like Raycon earbuds, Ridge Wallet, etc. Also shouldering the responsibility of a Patreon is probably something he would rather not do if he can help it. If you're already well-off and also getting paid decent sponsor money for brief ads for some mobile games like Jon probably is then he's not going to do a Patreon unless he was really hurting. And without a Patreon he can do videos at his leisure and not be beholden to promises offered for tiered patrons and so forth. KZbin is a different place than it was when JonTron was peaking as a content creator (when he did reviews of video games, when he had that intro, Jacques as a side character), as were his relations with other creators and his audience before...things happened, and the content he chooses to do now is also different (while retaining his characteristic personality). In short, everything has gone to complete and utter shit. But Jon is maintaining pretty well I'd say. And his videos are still good. So that counts for something I think.

Admitted its best years are behind it at this point and it's dropped off the top 20 most earning games on the store but it's still making a pretty penny off the existing player-base. Like most gacha games the tactic is to pull as many people in, in your first year with a shit ton of ads and then rely on milking your long time customers for as long as possible before closing the game. Of course some games like Fg/o and Genshin break that trend and seem to pull in new players constantly. But most gachas like Raid follow the above.

I was so excited for a new JonTron upload. JonTron is one of my top 3 favorite content creators and might be the funniest of all of them. So I was hugely disappointed when I realized this entire video was a commercial. Just super bummed about it. This doesn’t change my opinion on JonTron, but I really hope it’s not a sign of things to come. I realize that it takes a lot of money to produce the high-quality videos that we’ve come to love; I’m glad JonTron has found good sponsors. Maybe just warn us next time if you publish a feature-length commercial. I’d totally watch it. I just want to manage my expectations.

KZbin gives rates per thousand views, so 10-30c per k is more in the realm of the plausable. Also, i think the comment was asking what the company paid specifically for a fully written, staged, produced comercial for a product, which would likely be independent of KZbin ad revenue, i.e. contract work, which would be interesting to know. I'm glad, though, that dispite putting a clear ammount of work into the production, it's pretty clear Jon is making this for money, not his usual passion project's flair.

I have come to appreciate the not so consistent uploads. We are spoiled in current times where you can watch a whole season of your favourite show in one night instead of having to wait for a certain time on a certain day of the week on a certain channel. There was a time when if you had a favourite show you would have to stop what your doing at 7 pm on a Friday and get home to watch the new episode of your favourite show and Friends and family would meet up and watch the the show together. My point is we are in such a live in the moment time in history, some times it’s good to have something to look forward to even if it’s just the little things and ti me the waiting makes it that much better experience wise

Jons been on a slow downward spiral of subs since the start of the year because people see him as greedy and only making content for the sake of money. This video definitely doesn't change that perception. In the short term this ad is going to bring him a lot of money but if he continues down this road he's going to lose subs and worse he's going to lose views. *tl'dr* - It's that old folly of focusing on the present rather than looking at the long term. See the current US inflation issues for a pretty blatant example.

Dislyte actually isn't like the trailers. It's a typical turn based gatcha yes, but with plenty of its own unique style with graphics that are really appealing. It's vibe is music and the summon screen let's you be a, "mini DJ." It's got its quirks that keep me playing for now. I don't know if I see much playability for a long time though. I recommend giving it a try though

I wish I could know why Jon left G.G. and the details of his experience in the years that followed. At the time, it seemed like he split because he was feeling stifled and wanted freedom to pursue his own content. It seems like he hit a crossroad with them, and went with his gut. Which checked out at the time, since immediately after he left, G.G. went all in on expanding the channel and brand. But Jon seemed kind of lost on his own. I wonder if the pressure to make a successful comeback was too much? It seems like he lost passion for focusing on games, since he transitioned to other types of videos. But there have been consistent huge gaps between videos. I wonder how he makes it work as his main source of income? I guess he gets consistent ad revenue for old vids, and he probably made a good chunk of money through G.G. but still. It’s not anyone’s business, but I’d love to know how he makes it all work, since his highest earning period is behind him and KZbin has changed so much in how creators are supported. There’s probably an NDA that keeps him from talking too much about it, but a podcast interview talking about his experiences and thoughts on the whole thing would be fascinating.

Some people still believe there was some conspiracy that drove Jon away from the show. Whether or not that's true is none of our business though. Both Jon's channel an Arin's channel output great content, so in the end Jon's reason for leaving the show doesn't matter much.
