Spewer is a game made by Edmund Mcmillen, the creator Binding of Issac, Binding of Issac Rebirth, and Super meat boy. The game is free to play online, but can be purchased to help support him on steam, found in the Basement collections. The content of which is all free to play online, which if you don't want to buy, should still be experienced. Edmund is one of my favorite developers and I feel should be supported, go play Spewer, it's a great game made by a great dude.

tbh I love how he keeps rambling on about how much he knows and loves new grounds and about the game in general. to me it shows how passionate he is about what he does and that really he does go deep in gaming history unlike most gamers now-a-days just ramble on about recent games without going back to the start/inspirational base. I love markiplier and I wish him best. ♡♡.. that's about it lol

Ed likes to recycle things into his other games, and I like to think it was explicitly to cause nostalgia for old school fans. For example, the same sounds for eating a pill in spewer is used in Isaac when you swallow a tablet. And there's finally a spewer item in the game that works very similarly. It's great to see devs that make games with such lasting impacts!

The problem with tripple 'A' titles is that there is too much at stake to truly try something new and creative. With free flash games back then, people were just trying ideas that popped into there heads. They werent being paid to do this, nor did they have a budget. It was just something to do in their free time. Gaming today has found a sweet spot. Good graphics and violence. as long as those two quotas are filled, you are set. There is always the group that says "graphics dont matter" however its a very loud minority. Because sales figures say otherwise. If gaming worked by that logic, then Nintendo would take gaming by storm and microsoft and sony would be struggling in the industry. Nintendo is in a league of their own. They tend to stay clear of violence and amazing graphics for creativity. Look at the Wii U. Yes, graphics are sub par but it tried something new for console gaming. It experiments with ideas all the time. A lot of it is in the perspective of Mario and Zelda, but the reason for that is honestly to help sell it. It's the reason anyone buys call of duty. Because it says call of duty on the box. Whether the game is good or not is irrelevant. How many people complain that the modern warfare games are all the same, yet sold millions? Back on topic, it's just so easy to make a game with violence and good graphics to sell well. Especially in the FPS field. so why bother making anything else when you can almost guarantee success?
@KyRex178310 жыл бұрын
I wish you weren't right... but you are.
@Luxai10 жыл бұрын
Mario and zelda are incredibly overused franchises and the wiiu "idea" seems pretty pointless. I'm pretty sure the console lives on third party titles, which is why Nintendo has been throwing money at successful game developers to make exclusives for their consoles. As for graphics, some of the most critically aclaimed games I have seen places gameplay over graphics. There is evidence to debate you with.
@iJonos10 жыл бұрын
Nintendo's graphics aren't sub par.
@K4RN4GE91110 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, but I need to rebuke a bit about graphics being one of the sole things that most people worry about. While they are part of the inherent experience of the game and draw you in, they are always going to be dated, no matter what. Remember how blown away we were at Super Mario 64's graphics? Now you look back today and see that they are terrible. They weren't back in the day, but now, it looks primitive and last gen. To quote Ross Scott, "Here's the thing about graphics snobs: They're kind of hypocrites and they don't even know it. Think of the most realistic looking game you know of today. It looks amazing, right? Well guess what, that game you think looks so great now is going to look lame in the next twenty years compared to what we can play on our holodeck."
@kellenmcqueen937110 жыл бұрын
This is something so many forget. Triple A titles are massive, they cost a lot of money. A flop on a game like that can do severe damage to a company and result in many layoffs of the creatives that make those games. Some companies, like Fromsoft played safe when creating a title like Dark Souls 2. Why? Because Miazaki, the creative head for Demons and Dark Souls was creating Bloodborne a new intellectual property. If Bloodborne were to flop it would hurt the company, but since Dark Souls 2 sold well the company is able to take such a risk. Nintendo does this too. Their Handhelds tend to have very "safe" titles in Mario and Zelda titles or other already traded grounds while they also push the boundaries with things like the Wii U interactive gamepad. They can do this such risk because they have prepared for it.

It was incredible to see all the immense creativity come from Indie game creators on there and I still have my first account and I play games on it every now and then. I loved and used to visit the shit out of newgrounds! in the early days of the internet, newgrounds, ebaumsworld, and funny junk, and stupid videos, were the best websites. but newgrounds was the best out of them. I loved watching the animated music videos, and the tank men cartoons. but most of all, I would watch the awesome series videos over and over and over again, and my friends and I would say the the quotes ALL the time! like "I HAVE A FAMILY TO FEED!" (psp squirrels) and "SHUT UP UNLESS ITS YOUR ASS TALKING!" (metal gear awesome) and "my sister has cancer...ZOMBIE CANCER! YEYA!" (awesome center re-dux) and "THEY'ER SHOOTING LASERS OUT OF THEIR RADIOACTIVE SUPER CORES! USE YOUR ZAPPY GUN TO STOP THEM!" (also awesome center re-dux). but also finding the hidden videos in the awesome videos. ahhh thank you for letting me reminisce

Probably my favorite old flash games were the Armed with Wings series, and the Sonny Series. The first Armed with Wings is actually be re-made and released on Steam, it was greenlit within a few days of going up on steam even. I believe that Krin is still working on the third Sonny game, but that it's going to be released as a flash game for free. Me personally, I would totally pay money for it. His last game on Armor Games, Sinjid, actually had an option to pay $5 for two additional missions, and I did it without any hesitation. Krin and Daniel Sun(AwW creator) have made games that are way better than a lot of the AAA games I've played.... ever, really. The Armed with Wings series is just phenomenal, and I'd urge anyone reading this to go and play the entire series. The first game definitely hasn't aged well, but the re-make, Armed with Wings: Rearmed, is looking fantastic. I love everything about the universe D-Sun has created for these games, the world, the characters, the story, it's so unique and dark. The Art style is particularly good. Even though the first game doesn't look as good as the more recent ones, it still had an incredibly unique art style, and the latest one to be released, Culmination, is just ridiculously good looking. The Sonny series has some incredible characters and writing, and even the voice acting is worthy of note a lot of the time. The combat system in that game is very in-depth, and again, the art style, I just love everything about those games.

@Zyphon4410 жыл бұрын
***** Yes, go check it out on Steam! D-Sun also has a patreon that you can go to, to support future projects. so far, planned projects aside from Rearmed include: Possible remakes or a re-released collection on steam of Armed with Wings 2, Red Moon, Armed with Wings 3, and Culmination Armed with Wings Arena. A free-to-play AwW game with updates over time. It would be multiplayer, and would allow you to play as several characters form the series, fighting against other players, or certain monsters, as well as a sort of boss rush mode with boss monsters not seen in any of the games previously. The non-multiplayer version is available to people who subscribe(is this the right word?) to the Patreon page. THE BIG ONE. a.k.a Armed with Wings 4. This won't be seen for quite some time, as it will be the first full game released on steam(not a remake or collection). I'll try to post the link to, at the very least, D-Sun's blog and facebook.

Hey Mark (: *Side question pertaining to times way back when: ever heard of the site FunnyJunk?* I started using newgrounds when I was about 8 years old. I got into it via my brother (2 years above me) who'd always show me little flash shorts or weird games. Believe it or not, spending time on newgrounds helped me through my parents' divorce and a few other difficult situations that I had no choice in being a part of. ANIMATIONS: The Ultimate Showdown, Eddsworld shorts, Weebl Stuff (Catface, Magical Trevor, the infamous Badgers), Happy Tree Friends, a lot of random yoshi's island/mario stuff, countless series that I don't recall, etc. GAMES: Interactive Buddy, Ballons tower Defense, super meat boy, a lot of dress up/character personalizing games, etc (I can't remember the big titles...) DAMNIT MEMORY WHY MUST YOU FAIL ME Attempting to acess these memories is sort of bringing up a lot of emotions and frustration, so I'll have to get back to you on more titles and the specifics of how much I appreciate newgrounds on a later date. This is it for now, I guess. I think maybe I'll have to pay newgrounds a visit tomorrow and try to remember more and play some games from my past. Thanks for reminding me of, well, my childhood (: I have a lot of memories in newgrounds. Some good, some, er, we don't talk about it. Kdy, and I hope you don't stress too much. Relax with a nice... whatever you use to properly relax ♡ Thanks for being you -master of long comments (MLC)

Mark, I absolutely LOVE when you play flash games, and start rambling! It offers us a window to your personality. When you do this; it feels as if a friend is with me, playing video games. Believe it or not, but this kind of stuff brings me back to my earlier days, when my best friend used to visit, and I'd watch him play different games. Thing is, he ended up being forced out of the state, and it's hard to make new friends, when you live underground; sooo I turned to you, Jack, and Felix. Anywho, please don't apologize for rambling, or just being human. If you have something to say, then just say it. If people don't like it; there's also Jack and Felix. Much peace, love, and happiness, from underground! ~Lexi, Captain of Bunker 42

Idk if this was on newground (I played it on cool-math games) but back when I was in middle school, I played the Cargo Bridge games. I used to be love those games. Cool-math games used to be the only way I could get away with playing video games in school, since the teachers thought the games on there were all math based and actually taught us something. (Games like Cargo Bridge did teach us stuff, that particular game teaches kids how bridge physics work, but most of the games on the site were like Spewer and didn't really teach us anything academic)
