Did anyone noticed the nature of distractions: 1. Money (Prosperous village) 2. Power (Becoming next king) 3. Love (beautiful young woman) 4. Ego (biggest of all) Challenges are sequentially arranged. A very well written story.

When I watched this video, this is true to me. As a minor I want to do my goals, but so many distractions comes. When I become an adult, distraction stills come. Successful people must learn to deal with distractions. It doesn’t matter what age you are, but you’re going to be distracted.

Getting to the destination was a goal set by someone other than each individual monk. It is true that there are many distractions, but one could argue the "distractions" for each of the 4 monks that left were actually callings unique to each of them. Be open to the world and more will be revealed!

It's good overall and important to stay focused. i can't help thinking one thing about the fable though - The 4 monks were careless at least in part because there were others to fill in and get to the monastery. If one monk was sent, he could go straight to the monastery and then send word to others about the needs of those he found along the way. There is not necessarily a right or wrong view on this, both can fail and perhaps the chief lama wanted the 4 monks to go off and help those they found along the way... - just notice though, that when the other 4 had gone by the wayside, the remaining monk made it to the monastery surely he also encountered distractions but still endured at least in part because he was the only one left to accomplish the mission. Whatever your mission is, you're the only one left to accomplish it.
@silverwolf99852 жыл бұрын
it is indeed important to not be distracted from your goals, and many people may have seen the 4 monks as fools...however, I saw them in a different light, if you can find it in yourself for a listen. to me, they did it because they wanted to help others in their own way. maybe that was their true goal and maybe they didn't get "distracted" and instead...went to exactly where they were needed to be, and the final monk did, to HIS goal. they may have gotten branched away from one goal...but they may have reached their true destination; where they were each individually called to be at, exactly. so...are they really any different and truly 100% "distracted" if you think about it deep and hard? if you do...what IS "distraction" to them, in their 5 minds if not being called to where they were ultimately meant to go...and stay? did anyone truly "lose" here, or...maybe perhaps everyone won in their lives here? after all...every five fingers on our hand is separate, yet part of one hand and branch off differently to where they're meant to be, whether being idle or being used.
