I loved the Tuxedo Princess and Baja Beach Club on the Gateshead quayside, both of which are gone and have been for a while. I also miss the Bigg Market scene in the 2000's, which has also gone.

The reason pubs are popular in Dublin, because they didn't tear the heart out of their pubs for between the past 40 to 60 years like Newcastle has done. Don't destroy heritage!

Newcastle is still one of the most popular destinations in the UK for a night out. We should feel very proud and we still have a pub dating back to the 1500’s 🤛🏻

@@TynesideLife Have you seen the state of the former Barlew Mow on City Road, one of the best pubs up until it was destroyed by the corporate pub chain bars, the mid 90's, and ultimately left to rot. Sad.

As a dublin man who loves his Guinness and the toon , hopefully be nice guinness, be checking it out when over for matches. As for any toon fans traveling to Ireland , avoid the temple bar at weekends, packed and ripoff, alot better places. Be looking forward to see the finished pub

Temple Bar is a tourist trap, if you want real Irish pubs then you need to get out of Dublin and off the tourist trails, I visit Ireland regularly as my dad was from County Clare and I have family there, Dublin is a bit like London not really a true reflection of the rest of the country, places I like to visit are Wexford, Middleton, Limerick, Ennis, Galway and best of all Westport along with many places in Clare.

The Banner County, what a dedicated county mate with regards to Gaelic and Hurling…..pure athletes them lads are down there unlike our drunken bums around Belfast and County Antrim 😃 ps Tyneside Irish Centre is a great spot, was packed to the rafters for Alan Shearer and Peter Beardsley’s Testimonials against Celtic 👍

Nothing better than live music in every pub. Temple bar is fantastic but way over price for a drink. Hope this is even a little like temple bar and I’ll be more than happy. Hopefully a few proper Irish/Celtic singers in here.

I worked at Julie’s back in about 1994, I think. Too long ago to remember exactly when. I could tell a few tales lol It was a dump inside when the lights were on! Luckily for me back in the day I never queued anywhere…. I think it’s easier for lasses though. Nowadays, I couldn’t imagine anything more awful going to a busy bar or nightclub!!!
