The 24-year prison sentence in the deadly Bayshore street-racing crash came as a shock to many in the legal community, but it might not end there. The stiff sentence is now being appealed by the young driver's attorney.
Cameron Herrin pleaded guilty to racing another teen, John Barrineau, on Bayshore Boulevard and hitting Jessica Raubenolt and her baby Lillia as they crossed the street, killing both mom and baby.
Last year, Barrineau took a state offer and pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and unlawful racing and is now serving a six-year prison sentence.
Herrin, who was not offered a plea deal, instead decided on an open plea to the court, leaving his fate in the hands of the judge. Nash gave him four times the sentence Barrineau got and now wants a do-over.

@Margaret Kpeh I agree accidents do happen and I continue to pray for me to never seek vengeance on anyone. However all actions have consequences and if they choose to race down a busy street and then because of their actions a family is going through the pain that will last a lifetime, the drivers should now accept what the consequence is. I didn't say the family should seek vengeance or even hate the two young men but they do deserve justice.

Not only wasnt it his first time , he had been warned several times to stop racing/speeding , he didnt listen and didnt care . His lawyer also tried to hide the fact that he was speeding . Why should anyone feel any compassion for him ? Clearly he isnt sorry and doesnt feel any regret , remorse , responsibility , accountability or understanding for what he did because he is now appealing the ridiculous and insulting low sentence of 24 yrs that he was given for speeding and murdering a mother and her toddler ffs . He is "shocked" that he got 24 yrs and doesnt think it is right , that it is too long and is appealing it ? How many yrs did he take away from the woman he killed ? how many yrs did he take away from the toddler he killed ? He wants his sentence reduced ? I guarantee that mother , her , toddler and their families would like their lives to have been extended . Regardless of what anyone else said about it he should have at least owned what he did and said his "apology" himself instead of being a coward and getting his attorney to read it . If he was actually sorry he would be thinking about the 2 people he killed and would accept the sentence he was given , instead he is "shocked" the sentence he was given is "too much" and only thinking about himself. @@cindy2145 a serial killer in canada got 25 years until he could get probation for admitting to killing 30+ women :) just a bit of perspective from another country.. in reality the middle ground is somewhere in between.. giving him 25 years or more guarentees you create someone who will commit MORE crime in the future or will die in prison while costing tax payers a huge amount of money.. if you just want mob justice fine.. shoot him and be done with it.. throwing him in an american prison for 25+ years aint justice.. i remember some guy killed a family of 5 in a DUI accident not far from where i live many years ago.. the guy is out of jail already.. he got less than 10 years... id say wiping out a family of 5 deserves life but 2 people who themselves did not follow traffic laws (neglected to use a crosswalk even though she had a stroller/child with her..) the mother shares some responsibility and she has already paid for that mistake.. its not fair to put that mistake on the driver as well.

@Nautica's Playhouse Erotic Audios No, both did not break the law. According to Florida law, "jaywalking" in this sense - not crossing at a marked crosswalk - is not illegal, simply a non-criminal violation, and only is considered a violation in certain cases (such as not crossing at a 90 degree angle when crossing at an unmarked crosswalk). Might get you a $50 citation if a cop cares enough to write one up. According to locals, Bayshore Blvd has marked crosswalks maybe two miles apart from one another. So her method of crossing was more likely, not even a violation.

@Nautica's Playhouse Erotic Audios I know there is no such thing, that's why I put it in quotes clarified what action is supposed to have been the action that "broke the law" and made her "guilty". She did not break the law, she may have violated it, but unless you know what angle she crossed at, you can't say she even violated a law. The marked crosswalks on Bayshore Blvd are about 2 miles apart from one another, and Florida's laws are much more relaxed than say, NJ's laws on crossing at anything other than a marked crosswalk.
@drev48
@drev48 3 жыл бұрын
@Warriors Ground no, he broke the law, street racing is against the law. She may have done a violation, but that's if you know what angle she crossed at. Bayshore Blvd has crosswalks about 2 miles apart from each other, and people cannot be faulted or arrested for not walking 2 miles before crossing the street. It is why Florida is so relaxed with their pedestrian laws.

@Margaret Kpeh Have you followed this story? Do you know this punk's car has a computer that registers and documents the speeds in which he drove the car? Had you been following the story you would learn he had the car at 150 MPH the day prior. This wasn't an accident. This is what this punk did daily. he made a choice to take this car at a high rate of speed where pedestrians are known to be. That is irresponsible and deliberate. An accident is where you topple a mail box, or back into a stop sign. But when your car is going so fast the impact on a human being causes that amount of physical trauma and death, it is called vehicular homicide, not an accident. And YOU PAY THE PRICE. In this case, he owes society TWO LIVES. Two precious priceless lives. The law of the land is that he relinquish his life for those he took. 24 years is nothing.

@@lilcrouton8664 a mother and baby still died. 2 people died because of him. Spilling milk is an accident. Bumping into someone on the street is an accident. Double vehicular manslaughter is not an accident. 2 people lost their lives cuz if this dumbass. How would u feel if that was your wife and child?
