I almost completely lost much of my memory function, especially short term memory. It was driving me, and my family crazy. I forgot everything. It was very frightening. Enter Keto/fasting. Like magic my memory started to noticeably return as well as all cognitive function. I had been using coconut oil, but not regularly. When I began using MTC oil daily in my black coffee the miracle began. My life literally changed for the best. I had previously banned most carbs with that I lost 40 lbs and my body felt more healthy but my mind was still going. MTC oil is a miracle. Also virgin olive oil and I eat one meal a day.

I'm Keto/OMAD. I do a four day cycle, three days of one meal a day, and the forth day I fast. Because I am OMAD, that works out to 47 hours of fasting every four day cycle. In addition to this, once a month I do a three day fast that is actually 95 hours long. I've lost a good amount of unhealthy weight and a myriad of health issues have vanished as a result. However the primary reason I have adopted this lifestyle is to ensure my brain health. Both my mother and my father suffered from dementia in their last decade of life, and I very much want to exit the world with my brain in full operation.

Hello Doc Boz. I was on Antidepressants from 94 until May 21. Started a couple years after Desert Storm. In November of 2020 I started following Dr Jason Fung's IF instructions. Then in May of 2021 I started transitioning to Keto, as best as I understood it. Around the same time I had to DC my Zoloft (it was making me nap during the day). I have been Depression Free since then! Still scored kust a bit low on a recent CF test. The therapist didn't feel it was adult ADHD, but I Do! He wasn't interested in pursuing what it was. My non-voluntary muscle movement all but disappeared within 6 months--NVMM is only noticeable when my carb count climbs above 100 carbs/day. Needless to say, I don't cheat often. My balance improvement is also exponential on Keto. Chronic depression that I have suffered with since age 10 disappeared within weeks of starting Keto. I really wish I could get the Physical Rehab community to study the Keto effects on a CP/Stroke brain. I think a lot of suffering could be mitigated.

Great lesson! Thank you for continuing to teach us the science behind this diet. It really helps me to be able to explain to my patients why I recommend that they make the change.

Hello Ma'am, I have been loving your book, more than the weight loss the research and brain benefits is what convinced me to do this! 🎉 My parents are interested as well so when will your book be translated to Spanish?

Dr Boz Im 58 and I’m sure I have measurable decline in cognitive function. I still suffer from low energy, anxiety and depression. I want to reverse this and it sounds like it’s possible. I’ve been keto for around a year fairly strict . I’ve lost a lot of weight -too much when I fast more than 48 hrs. I’ve had the foracare for a week. My ketones still measure .5 - 2.3 & my Dr Boz ratio ranges from 34 - 202. My BMI is 22. What ratio should I be aiming for and which is better to further my progress MCT (c-8) or exogenous ketones? I have no cravings and no problem fasting and no chronic disease. Thank you for all you do-I loved your book and your channel. 😊

Dr. Boz your channel is new to me. I am prediabetic and weigh about 103 pounds. I would like to be on KETO, but without losing weight! It is very difficult to find any doctors to teach one how to gain weight in a healthy safe way. Any suggestions?

This video is a year old, but I hope you still visit comments. Just wondered if only specific MCT has C:8 C:10 in it or is that actually what all MCT is made up of? I apologize if this is a stupid question.

It is one person per keto mojo and I am insulin resistant but the good news is our livers can be stubborn as mine is popping glycogen and our livers need to empty this glycogen ( excessive stored glucose) ugg

Fasting with keto does help with brain 🧠 function I can testify of that! It also makes me very happy and peaceful! But, when I eat frequently I feel worse!

I'm always stumped by people with their ketone numbers. I went for a 3 day fast and my ketones never went above 0.6. My glucose is only about 70. When I do my cardio sessions (while on the fast for 70-90min, max pulse at 165), my ketones drops to 0.1-0.3 (at the end) then after 30mins up to almost 2, but then drops to 0.6 again and doesn't budge! This is true even when I have had nothing but fats with about 5% protein for days!

You are an outlier. Which actually makes you special in the evolutionary chain. But you are far from alone. I’ve seen research that pointed out that 10% or so of the population is not suited even to a milder form of low carb. Besides, ketones in the blood do not equal ketone utilization. That’s a fact that is not unlike glucose in the blood.

How do you calculate the brain energy percentage to see where a person is starting from so as to properly give right amount of MCT

Would it be safe to say that Ketones improve executive functioning? It makes me wonder if this will lessen the symptoms of vascular, Alzheimer's, and Lew Body dementia?

Excellent video. Well done. Can you please explain how you manage a 24-48hr fast? Salt, nutritional yeast, electrolytes? For someone seeking to get more ketones but want to water fast appropriately, how would one to it safely? Can you please educate us in that? Also if you have been diagnosed with cancer what would you do besides ketosis? Thanks for the great content.

What diet would you recommend for students taking a licensure Board Exam? Would you recommend fasting during a board exam?
