Yup, finally got it done. Hopefully I can get the real 16th anniversary for my channel on youtube down within the week. I tried to go over as many comments as I could. I've redone this video about 3 or 4 times, thankfully, the web camera really held up. Enjoy. :)

I'm honestly a bit surprised over the amount of people claiming other Nintendo franchises in a Mario Party game would be confusing. While maybe not a perfect comparison, I played the first Smash Bros before I knew who Kirby or Ness were, I played Melee before I knew who Marth or Roy were, I played Brawl before knowing who Snake or Wolf were, I played Smash 4 before knowing who Robin or Shulk were and I played Ultimate before knowing who Pyra and Mythra were. None of these factors really made me enjoy the games any less, and even a lot of my non-hardcore friends seem to enjoy the games on a similar level as they're just fun to play, wether you know the character or not. I feel it would be the same for Mario Party. I know very little about Animal Crossing (outside of Smash Bros-references and what I've picked up through cultural osmosis), but I definitely think a Mario Party board themed around it would be fun. And as long as the boards themselves are well-designed, I doubt it'll be a problem for more casual Mario Party enjoyers. Sure, the boards might have some easter eggs and references only fans of the series might get, but I don't see that as an issue. If anything, I think it might entice non-fans to want to try out games from certain franchises if they enjoy the boards.

This would mimic a problem that's common is the Sonic series , tease advertising. Selling you on ideas they never intend to follow up on for unknown reasons. Instead , sell them on the realm of stories you already call "Nintendo canon." Mario is just entertainment in Hyrule , and you know how far that rabbit-hole goes.

Aw nuts. I didn't realize Paper Mario had some legal hurdles, too. And is Nintendo really that adamant about not touching anything with Rare's fingerprints on it?? Man...

It's not that their adamant about not touching it. Just that they'd rather focus on making the DKC series more of "their" image and name instead of the past developer.

@@cjszero01 "Their" image? But what made Rare's games so special was that they were Nintendo exclusive games that were completely distinct from anything else Nintendo was putting out at the time! That's why people still love them!

Thanks for responding! To clarify, I wasn’t saying your pitch was confusing personally, just that it’d probably be overwhelming for a general audience. For example, when playing with new players on Horror land, I tend to see friends extremely frustrated by the new rules (even though there aren’t really many new rules). I’d just be concerned for the crowd of Mario party fans who essentially play it only during friend/family hangouts. As another example, most casual friends I know vastly prefer Super Mario Party and non-classic bonus stars simply because they have to think less (their words not mine) even though I feel both those opinions provide a much worse experience. Personally, I really like the idea and would like it as a hardcore Nintendo and Mario party fan and would honestly need to see casual fans’ reactions of the idea to form an opinion.

Yikes, that's the first I've heard of something like that. Most of the people I play with in Mario Party love the crazy boards.

Maybe to add to the idea of the guest star hosting the board, how about the host is a Mario character dressing up as a character from the game, and maybe that character is the one wanting the board thanks to their love of the franchise. like maybe toadsworth hosts the Zelda board dressing as Link because he loves fantasy. Cranky Kong hosts a game and watch board because the old games are always better. and maybe as a joke, have the final unlockable board be an animal crossing board hosted by Bowser because he genuinely loves the game series, and for an inversion of the norm have the Bowser spaces be the positive space you want to land on.

It's pronounced Lev-it-man (think the first part of "leverage" then "it" then "man"). At this point I'm used to people mispronouncing my last name, Leavitt, but this is the first time I'm hearing it pronounced Leh-vi-it XD. Most people read it as Leave-it haha. No hard feelings, tho.
