The one person that gave this a thumbs down had their phone up side down. 😁

One of the main big tools I learned at UM and that changed my life bit by bit...every day we need to witness our thoughts and channel them to the positive - thank you Commander Mark 🔱🙏💙

This is much better than all Psychiatrist advice I know. Problem and solution based on true experience, not by reading book.

Jesus I've been trying to do this myself and been having a tough time progressing. I can get from trigger to an improved filter better than I used to but it's been taking a bit of work. Now, and because of this video (and the illustration on the whiteboard) I've had a light bulb moment. I've learnt that it's not about overthinking the transition (green arrow between trigger thru filter) it's just a simple case of realising the green arrow is the fuse that lights the superior filter, thus when triggered, rather than over thinking how to get from trigger thru filter, I now instead reinforce the notion that "things are fine, be compassionate to yourself, it's no threat, be convivial" alongside this I find it fun to tell myself the trigger is a nice thing that I don't hate thus removing it's trigger potential. Great video.

I get into fear a lot due to a violent incident that occurred and did not realize about the emotion triggering the thought until I watched this video. I knew about the thought triggering the emotion but not the other way round. Essential and powerful for everyone to watch this video

How do we break the cycle?

Erm, so what's the solution for this? How to break this cycle? Earlier in the video mentioned create a gap between emotion and thought... May I ask how to do that?

Meditation. It allows you to slow things down and create a time gap between trigger and reaction so you can chose which reaction is best for the situation.
