Pull ups are one of the most difficult exercises that people aspire to master, but they don't have to be.
Pull ups for beginners hide many of the issues that make this exercise so challenging, and by getting through these obstacles, we can improve our overall pull up game

I find that if you don’t do them consistently then you lose the strength and ability to do them pretty quickly. Consistency is key.

I hear this, Charles! Particularly with weighted pull ups. Those can drop so fast if you don't do them 😅

I find that too. If I go without doing pull ups because I've switched them for a different workout my progress disappears, but with things like push ups the progress seems to stay

Excellent video! I was looking through your equipment and I couldn't find your outdoor setup. I would love to hear more about the hardware used for the pullup and dip stations. Thank you!

Great channel, love your presentation and filming! Also, what’s your opinion on neutral grip vs regular pull-ups?

I like to superset pull ups and dips, cant do weighted super sets until my weighted pulls catch up with my weighted dips.

I found that my dips ran away from my pull ups long ago Max dip: 77KGs Max Pull: 42KGs If you feel like you can progress with your dips, don't hesitate 👊🏿💪🏿

Im stuck at 10 pull ups. Also i can't seem to be able to rep them quickly, i need to go down to a dead hang even if its less effective

10 pull ups is still a quality number of pull ups, but yeah stringing pull ups together takes some getting used to, but with frequency practice, and control you do used to halting the swinging 💪🏿

Agree about wide pullups...all the pullup bars in gyms have the hand setting way too wide for my normal grip :-( Though I remember watching a video from an American guy who once held the world record for pullups, and he recommended a wide grip (to shorten the movement)..glad that you deconstructed and refuted this strategy.

Another great video mate 👍 been hitting it hard this week 🙂 been left with a pondering thought though....been hitting the Pike + Archer push ups alot (love them both) but.....noticing my upper chest is really lacking. Wondered if you generally use a vertical push + horizontal push only and that gets the job done...or would it be worth it for me to maybe add something like decline push ups to specifically aims at it. (Asking as i tend to pick out a small selection of movements then hit those with high frequency 😂) p.s my lack of upper chest has been a forever issue....not only after a week😂😂hope this makes sense bud and thanks for all your knowledge filled videos

Do you recommend to go into a complete hang after each rep or should the shoulder blades stay engaged over the complete set?
@CaliToTheCrowd
@CaliToTheCrowd 4 ай бұрын
I personally do recommend this because the reset at the scapula is incredibly important for more advanced movements (e.g. weighted pulls, muscle ups, front lever etc.)

I think even less than 1 in 20 people could do a pull up out of a random selection process, actually. Also, the quality of your videos are just fantastic

great timing, I just finished practicing pull ups raaaaagh, one thing that's been helping me make progress recently is something that athleanx's jeff said, which is to pull inwards and downwards instead of just downwards, what do you think about that andrew?

I'm a fan. I imagine this cue helps with keeping the arms pinned to the side which will fire up the lats more (we want the bigger muscles to pull their weight). Keep grinding, Craig 💪🏿

I’m looking to build a backyard calisthenics park identical to yours but am having trouble finding a good material to use for the bars. Would you mind telling me what exactly you used for yours? It looks great. Thanks

Sure, so the wood is Pine, 6x6 inches. The bars are powder coated tempered steel. I bought it from this company that do great instructions on how to set up bars: xorbars.co.uk/

@@CaliToTheCrowd I actually just finished building mine yesterday using 6x6 posts and rubber coated rigid conduit for the bar. Hopefully mine holds up how it is but if not I guess I know where I’ll be heading for the replacement parts so thank you😂
