I find it very difficult to understand women. My 51 year old perspective is that women today ignore guys that will love them for their "ideal". Alpha males who are tall and have executive positions generally treat women as possessions not as equal partners.

I have heard a lot of women saying they met a good partner when they had been sick after drinking so much and looking like they been dragged through a bush.
