It’s a very southern bred thing to do. I have a lot of family that reminds me of lee Ann. My uncle once stubbed his big toe on a stone step. It broke his toenail and he started bleeding everywhere. he just pulled the nail off and wrapped a convenience store napkin around it.

My turnaround on Bert is usually about a half a week after the podcast, sometimes longer, like after his ice cream take I was pissed at him until the kool aid incident humbled him again. Ultimately it all boils down to annoyance with how oblivious he is that some of his occasionally toxic behavior isn’t normal and is likely a product of his relationship with his father.

I have severe anxiety issues and I can definitely relate to the "not picking up the phone, not responding to messages" thing. It's a vicious cycle where the avoidance of the calls and messages only produces more and more anxiety as time goes on, which is more and more paralyzing etc. Then on other days where I'm feeling better in general, I pick up the phone and answer messages instantly with no problem whatsoever.
