I’ve owed 14 + VW’s a few way over 100-150k don’t believe the hype,the internet still says Subarus have bad head gaskets yet it’s been years since they’ve had those issues,proper maintenance + oem replacement parts = a happy Volkswagen 💯

I have a 2010 VW CC with a 2.0 Turbo with 109K miles.............Engine has been ROCK SOLID!......Although, I have gone through a few PCV valves over the years. VW covered the PCV valves even after warrantee for free. VW stands by their cars. My car is still squeak-free and handles like a dream. Built like an iron bar.

Can’t say that about Hyundai though, they’ll deny you just for having the oil level a picometer below the minimum. Secondly, they don’t have immobilizers and didn’t want to add one as a recall instead a software Ford’s shifter bushing recall is overall better. Instead of just replacing the shifter bushing and calling it a day, they add a cover so it doesn’t happen again. It’s better to look on the customer service aspect, Hyundai and Kia customer service and recall methods are trash. ford and VW, not sure. Just got a VW rabbit and it only overheated once(was a fluke). Fords with Duratec engines are built like Hondas, same with VW 2.5. ABSOLUTE TANKS Theta engines will make you constantly worry that it’s going to send a rod the moon. Yeah, THEY SUCK.

same, my 2018 almost no issues, except one time the crack from one of my discs but that might be my driving habits. My only complaint is the oddly small gas tank. 18 gallons, who's the genius behind that design. A car like this needs a minimal 22 gallons.

i never made a decision based on other people's opinions. i love my 23 Atlas Cross Sport i chose the VR6 SEL 4Motion. gas mileage could be better but i am coming out of a 99 suburban so i get over double (i hate the tiny 18.5 gal gastank on the VW) honestly it was the stone blue interior and opal whit pearl paint that sold me on my particular Atlas. buy what you like and take care of it. you will ultimately be happier at the end of the day. or you wont who really knows

Had to take the gamble and find out that the b58 engine is very reliable and bulletproof and is also used by Toyota for the Supra

My dad has a 2015 2.0T audi Q3, 210hp back then. After 8 years no problems at all. VR6 engine was very old technology from VW, 2.0T technology has been out there for long time now, with many improvements. 2024 atlas engine comes from the latest VW GTI version, so if not sporty due to excess weight, is built to perform and last. Atlas is VW best seller in the US, they wont risk its best seller car sales by installing a crappy engine. Now Ford, Chevy, even toyota moved to Turbo 4s.

I have owned VW products for 18 years & serviced them all regularly. No major issues. But, I have chosen well. The old 1.8, the 2.8VR6, the 2.0 non-turbo. Finally the newer 1.4 . I will agree the 2.0 turbo engine head is weak & will fail at some point 125/150K usually. The Old Atlas with the V6 was the best choice. I was considering a new Atlas 2024. With no V6 option, I am not considering the Atlas at all.

I have to agree about the JD Powers comment. I had a 1991 Ford Explorer. There was all kinds of bad reviews. From JD Powers and Consumer Reports. I had no issues in 90k miles. I also had a 2013 VW sports wagon. That was caught up in the TDI scandal. That was a great car, fun to drive and I was getting 54 mpg on the highway. Too bad VW could not get that engine legal. I’m looking at the VW Atlas for the possible next car.

We own a 2019 VW Atlas full size with the v-6 with now 60k on the odometer. We have had it for four years, we bought it with 23k on the motor at a VW dealership. It is certified by VW which gives it bumper to bumper warranty from VW for up to I believe 6 years or 80k whichever comes first. We had a seat belt issue a few little recalls, and the brakes have always squeaked in reverse, but it has been a good vehicle. I would buy another one with the v-6 only. I think in 2022 or somewhere around there, they stopped offering the v-6.

Love this video! My comments from the other post made it into a video! I hope VW is making better and better cars because I always like their look and their technology…but for me, I will only do Honda or Toyota or possibly a Subaru. (Or the luxury versions of them…Lexus, Acura, etc.) I have had a lot of cars - A couple of Fords, Chrysler, 3 Hondas, Mitsubishi (really bad choice), 2 Jeep Wranglers, a Nissan pickup, and 3 Toyotas. I have never had a mechanical problem with any of the Honda’s or Toyota’s…the rest were constantly being recalled or having problems. That Mitsubishi left me stranded on the side of the road so many times in Dallas. Now I live in the Colorado mountains…cannot afford to get stranded!

We haven’t had our 2024 Taos that long, but thus far I like it. It starts every time, gets decent gas mileage, has all the space I could ask for, and while it does have a turbo engine (that’s the only choice in the Taos), it seems like VW found the sweet spot, just enough power without over taxing the engine. Keep the oil changed to at least manufactures recommendations, keep it properly serviced, and it should last a good long time.

The EA888.4 is a great engine. My GTI has the EA88.3 and I have 75k miles on it. Fully bolted and tuned. The only issue I had was the water pump that I replaced myself. The VR6 has more issues, especially head gasket. The new Atlas will be my car to add. Those comments are so out of touch of reality

it seems that the people who owns this SUV say good things about it, while others tend to speculate. I'm looking to buy a SUV in this segment, now I narrowed my choices to this 2024 Atlas or the 2024 Grand Cherokee L. Both of them are amazing on the road, I took both of them on test drives, but the GC has more sporty feel to drive, the Atlas is very comfortable and almost unbelievably flat on corners. The Atlas cornering defies physics compared to its size. I would like to add note that I excluded the SUVs with a CVT, because they are poor to drive. The new Pathfinder drives amazing too but not within my options anymore.

I am one of those people who has had a bunch of both NA engines and Turbo’s….if you are going to Turbo….change your oil and filter regularly…like every 8-10 k and forget those 15 K intervals the dealer talks about….your Turbo car should last well. Come to think of it run shorter intervals with the NA Engines too. On the subject of the Atlas…I am sold and cannot wait to get one and yup, gonna get a V6. I will be doing some light duty towing re enclosed trailer and dirt bikes.

Huh…Interesting take on these comments. I have to agree with the guy roasting JD Power. And yeah, VW uses too much technology. I mean, my uncle works at Aisin in Japan, and although he knows how to fix cars, he said how the VW kept breaking. It was usually the little sensors or the crappy plastic stuff and what’s worst is that the cheaply made parts costed a small fortune to buy. Otherwise it was a nice car that I pushed my uncle to get. It was a Lupo. I understand your wife likes the ergonomics and overall looks and features, and I think it’s an ok buy if you either lease it or have good warranty. Like I said, VW makes awesome vehicles.

Volkswagen turbo are generally very reliable but it is perception that has been built around in 90s hence people are afraid to trust VW. Not to mention, you hear the word German and it scares people away. We have two VWs; Jetta and Atlas. Reliable and trouble-free so far. Why? Maintenance.

Test driving the 2024 Atlas. This thing is super classy. Its amazing this is the same price as an average looking Subaru Ascend. With that said, the infotainment system is a hot mess. Need to bring back buttons. The seats are ok but also need more cushion. The engine is pretty powerful for a 4 cylinder.

@B2359
@B2359 13 сағат бұрын
I test drove all big SUV in around or below 60k range; Lexus TX, Toyota Regular Highlander, Honda Pilot, Kie Telluride, Mazda CX90, Nissan Pathfinder and VW Atlas. We liked Lexus TX the most but it’s slightly above our price. We didn’t like Nissan (wobbly drive and poor construction- floor carpet seam open and insulation visible under 2nd row seats), hated Honda Pilot jerky transmission in city drive and brakes, disliked regular highlander third row seats. CX90 drove very well for its size but the front face styling put us off plus it’s as high as other SUV in its segments but looks low, like a minivan. The Telluride drove very well but as a current Hyundai owner with many many recalls, I am hesitant to buy Kia/Hyundia again. That only leaves Lexus TX and VW Atlas, the Atlas SEL trim with a lot of features is about 17k less than the TX 350 with similar specs and won us over. Atlas is easy to drive, the engine has enough torque and ride isolates from road imperfections. Plus it has huge space. I was concerned about the touch capacitive interface but it’s easy to use and response. We will see how reliable it is, but as a package it is a great value.

We have a 2019 that my wife drives and it has treated our family amazingly! The V6 is a workhorse. Taking it to Florida and back to NJ two years in a row now, carrying 6 people each way, with a crap of baggage. Would not buy the 4 turbo. We just traded in our vr6 2019 for the new 2024. I like our car just fine the only big minus is the noice coming from the transmission. You feel its slipping jet the dealer says its normal. Also AC compressor failed twice. We still love the size and the price. So we stay with VW. I have owned them my whole life. Went to ford ones wont do that again

reliability honestly can go both ways, it's like an old movie quote from Predator 2 featuring Danny Glover. the door swings both ways lol, i think people get too caught up with numbers. it's easy to overhype a brand based on brand history, but new vehicles come out every year, and when it comes to reliability, there's really no true answer in how a vehicle will turn out for you, and other people. this is why there is a reason leasing exits, it's because dealerships can offer you a 3 year or 4 year lease, so if you're not sure about the car, you can do a 3 year lease and see how the vehicle holds up. now if you're confident in the product, that makes your job easier when it comes to buying, because that means you plan to keep it for awhile.

Hello, was looking for a comment just like this. I also have a 2019 v6 with tech and 4 motion. Was having problems since 40k miles Nov 2022; engine hesitations, lack power, stalling, ticking noises at idle. Brought it to the dealer under warranty and they tried to fix 5 different times. Now at 65k miles, they are replacing the engine. Asked for a buyback, but due to the mileage, they offered $3500 cash and keep or trade assist at $4000, declined a buyback. Didn’t get any info on why the engine replacement as of yet. Did you go thru VW of America for any assistance? If so, what was the outcome?

@bigbuckoramma
@bigbuckoramma Жыл бұрын
@@ravenguard1495 it's very rare that Mazda makes a dud engine. Even when they were using Ford derivative engines, their careful redesigns were always significantly more robust and reliable than their Ford counterparts. Given that their new inline 6 is heavily derived from their 2.5L Skyactive 4 cylinder architecture, with better primary balance, and less total output for displacement, plus electric assistance under load, there are a lot of good traits there to speak to it's longevity. I will not discredit the fact that the platform has yet to prove itself, but I would put way more faith in Mazdas new i6, than I would in VW's 2.0L Turbo i4, which is universally praised for being a fantastic paperweight. The sad truth is, any new car you buy is going to be a maintenance nightmare for any major repairs. The days of simple cars is long gone. It is an unfortunate reality you just have to accept if you want all of the modern amenities a new car offers.

Leased a 2021 Atlas R-Line. Lease is up so after a month of looking leased another Atlas this time a 2024 SE with Tech 4 motion and Captain Chairs again. After 3 years with the R Line not one issue. Unlike the Ford Exploder (too small and too expensive) and the Chevy SUV I once owned. With an 11 year old 9 and 8 year old boys the Atlas is by far the biggest in it's class. The 3rd row fits the big boys easily and adults. The Ascent is a plastic and way too small. The Jeep L same thing and the seat comfort doesn't come close to the Atlas. 3rd row is awful. Mazda 90 same thing too small and it's a Mazda. Toyota Grand Highlander is the only alternative but good luck finding one. They want a $5K + premium on them. Why? Not worth it. I spent an entire month trying not to buy another Atlas only to run back home to Momma.

Turbo engines...Prepare to spend more on Oil changes if you don't want failure. I hate the notion of having to go get an oil change as it is...then it becomes more frequent. Between electrification, which means carrying a battery (Bomb) in your car and this incessant need to make engines smaller for mid to large size cars, I believe we are going backwards. I think this trend is a FAD. And when the dust settles there will be a much better solution in the horizon than Electric.

I don't have an Atlas but a 2021 Tiguan, no issues with over 20k miles, the only disappointment was it didn't come with Remote Start at the price point I paid ...

I've only driven the JC Whitney VW's where can rebuild an entire car by purchasing anything snd everything from this magazine! 😂 My last foreign made car was a MINI Cooper owned it for 8 years but man that thing was expensive to repair, not the only reason I got rid of it but definitely a big one. I think you'll find to that almost any luxury foreign automakers vehicles on the used car market are dropping consistently more in resale than say american brands, that's what I've seen anyway. Our family brand is now Hyundai and you can say all you want about the brand, but when purchasing a used vehicle both Hyundai and Kia give the subsequent owners the remaining warranty terms, no other brand that I know of does that, that's what sold us on the Hyundai brand. We did have a Kia Soul at one point, it was one of the special editions, its fuel mileage back then was horrible even on long trips, it just didn't work for us. Everyone will have their preference in automakers that's just the way it's always going to be.

Drive them like a normal person and warm up cool down and change oil often and they easily run 200k or more. But if you like 10k mile oil changes. Be about 100k and junk. Mfg likes that. Planned obsolescence for the lazy.

The YOUTubers are on the nose. VW sucks at electricals. My radio went completely out in a Passat after about 40K miles. if it wasn't for the 10 year warranty, i would be out a radio. The dealer gave me bad advise when apple car play didnt work. if they would have taken me seriously, i would have had it fixed before the standard warranty expired. As a result, I don't trust VW.

Thanks for reading out my comment to give public awareness🙏🙏🙏......Thats right....VW Atlas was good till 2021 with V6 ....you can get used ones for 250k kms too....older Atlas 2019 even had fog lamps which I retrofitted with 100w led👍👍...excellent for long night drive....Now VW has made Atlas to be "ENGINEERED TO FAIL". Stick to Honda or Acura with V6 for troublefree ownership🤙🤙🤙🤙 or may be Toyota Hybrid with auto trans (not cvt) ....time will tell if Toyota turbo will fail or not😬😬😬😬😬

The day I came to the LA car show and sat in a VW Beetle and felt the very cheap plastic I would never buy a VW. If they’re going to cheap out on an icon it’ll be just the same w the other cars. Subaru, Toyota and Honda all use better materials.

My 2018 Atlas V6 purchased preowned has been the 2nd worst car I’ve ever had. Only topped by a 2005 Hyundai accent. Like many euro’s it’s not friendly to work on. Along with poor reliability, constant recalls and laughable resale value.

I have a 2018 VW Passat GT. The car has been reliable, and I LOVE the VR6 engine. Electrical gremlins have started showing up though. Backup camera works intermittently, problems with the electric passenger side rear window, same door intermittently starts locking and unlocking by itself... Fortunately, I still have a year and a half left on the 6 year/72K mile factory warranty. If new gremlins start showing up it will be bye bye Passat at the end of next year. As far as the new Atlas is concerned, I'm not a fan of the new 2.0 liter 4-cylinder-only engine option and I HATE the haptic and touch screen controls for the climate control system (similar to the GTI) Both are deal breakers for me regardless of the other improvements in the new model.
