When KZbin star ‪@JeffWittek‬ suffered a head injury after a filmed stunt went terribly wrong, he started experiencing depression, anxiety, and extreme emotional stress. His mental health had sunk so low, he visited Amen Clinics to get his brain scanned (read about Wittek’s initial brain scan evaluation here) and find out what he could do to improve his symptoms. In true KZbinr fashion, he did his evaluation with Daniel G. Amen, MD-a renowned psychiatrist, neuroscientist, and founder of Amen Clinics-in front of a camera.
In the initial aftermath of his accident, Wittek tried to hide what happened to him from his fans and followers. “I covered it up, and I put on prosthetic makeup, and I’ve played up the injuries as a joke like it was fake because I was so embarrassed about what happened,” he admitted to Dr. Amen.
Wittek has made a name for himself with a KZbin talk show that features him in a barbershop giving his guests a haircut. Wittek is a trained barber, but many of his guests aren’t aware of that fact and are put on edge wondering if he’s going to butcher their hair. It makes for some hilarious interactions. In the show, Wittek comes off as an arrogant, narcissistic New Yorker, but that’s simply a character he’s created. He’s never wanted to reveal his true self. “I don’t want to do that, because I don’t want to open myself up to criticism from people,” he said.
But now, faced with head trauma and mental health issues, Wittek has decided he’s ready to be more vulnerable and wants to share his journey. “It got really dark at times,” he said, but “I can document my healing over time.” He hopes his story can help others who might be suffering.

@@Mg-rb5lw Yea, I don't even follow him, but I started to follow his journey to recovery because I was surprised by how creative and interesting he is. Those documentary videos of his life were so interesting. Even the music video at the end was good (in a funny/bad way haha). TBI awareness is so important. It is really a life struggle. So showing something that could help. This is very enlightening. This is very real for a lot of people. Military, football, sports in general. Someone could have a TBI and not even know it. Parts of your personality change. It’s just a lot to deal with and especially if you have no awareness of what’s happening. This was amazing to watch. Get Dr.Amen out there. I used to work with a guy who made a name for himself through the idea of his catch phrase. “Differently Disabled”, he was caught in a house fire and they brought him out in a body bag. He wasn’t dead. So he went and has been featured on news features. He has spoken at colleges. Quit amazing of a platform he created. I work with a client who suffered a TBI through a car accident, whole life has changed. Can never drive again. You are going through a lot and to share it with the world is truth of healing. I know people who are suffering silently. Losing everything. So this is such exposure to everything, from your trauma, the after effects, to dealing with a TBI, to the impact it has taken on your life. Beautiful thank you❤️

This Amen is a scammer. There are loads of articles out there exposing his scanning methods and debunking his work.
@emilykatsullivan4058
@emilykatsullivan4058 3 жыл бұрын
@@leopardprints ty for that if you could send links to the articles that shows he is a scam artist, that would be more helpful. This story no matter what doc, make TBI awareness part of his platform, showing the struggle from day to day living. This is courageous. Doc or no doc, god bad or indifferent on the opinion of the doctor, or factual. This is a video of showing what it looks like to seek healing for a very traumatic experience. For anyone. So thank you again for the doc who may not be the best in his field, he is giving Jeff hope with a very hard situation.

@@leopardprints so now that I have done my research. Dr. Amen does not particularly, have good reviews. He is wildly not accepted by the science community. For Jeff to even post any of this is, where my attention lies. I would make my education about Dr.Amen, readily available. Leading with that gives me education, and an ability for me to form my opinion. The focus of this whole thing, is Jeff. So maybe contact him directly or send out information disputing the doctors abilities. Just something I would consider. Only a suggestion.

@@emilykatsullivan4058 He's charging Jeff $1600 for supplements to 'fix' his brain injury- that's a scam. It's exploiting someone who is vulnerable and scared. There are many viewers with TBIs who have expressed anger and concern at what this 'doctor' is doing to Jeff. He's giving Jeff false hope and spreading misinformation about rehabilitating TBIs.
@leopardprints
@leopardprints 3 жыл бұрын
@@emilykatsullivan4058 I've been having some issues with leaving links, hope this works. neurobollocks.wordpress.com/2015/01/25/the-amen-clinics-advertising-is-dangerous-disingenuous-bullshit/ I think Jeff is aware, now, because he's also mentioned 'articles about Amen'. There's been a lot of discussion in his Reddit sub about finding ways to tell him. But I think he knows. There have lots of comments under the previous video discussing Amen's controversial work, and comments left under Jeff's documentary video. I really hope for his sake that he walks away from Amen, and doesn't continue to buy these expensive suppliemtns. The money spent on these supplements could go towards seeing a neuropsychologist who specialises in TBIs.

0:25. When I was eight years old, I was playing on a playground and when I ran across a bridge that lead to some stairs to go to a slide, I tripped and my full body went straight into the bottom step and I busted my forehead open above my left eye and I was dripping blood like crazy!! I've always wondered why I say and do things I should be doing or saying sometimes without thinking through and embarrassing myself! I think I just found the answer I've been looking for for the last 20-21 years!! I also feel off a rope swing when I was Ten and I fell 10 ft onto a boulder on the back of my head and I now have a bone spur.
