5: it's not just physical and mental energy. It can be money, a physical space, their network, resources, etc. You just wouldn't know because it's usually kept secret.

I just came across your videos after months of searching for enneagram info, (so yes, YT's algorithm sucks). Great job and very accurate (5w4). Just subscribed!

That's awesome to hear! Well, minus KZbin's algorithm sucking. I'm just thankful you found these videos and that they were accurate/helpful in any way!

The female equivalent of the Napoleon complex in the type 8 is based on being conventionally attractive. Attractive female 8’s learn to use their physical qualities to kind of “soften” the blow of their demanding aggression and unsavory power in the workplace. I have 2 successful, bombshell 8 friends that use their “sex appeal” to balance out their “masculine” personality. Men listen. However, 8 women who don’t have “pretty privilege” end up having to soften their approach to become successful or risk massive pushback and alienation, even bullying. I’m not conventionally attractive, so I’m not very likable if I don’t mask my intentions with warmth and “friendly persistence” in the workplace. Gotta play the long game, otherwise no one wants to listen to a controlling (b word). Your other option is alienating everyone and seizing power by being antagonistic and making coworkers afraid to cross you, which doesn’t always work (the napoleon complex aspect). Being an 8 woman is challenging regardless, because even if you’re attractive and well received by men, that comes with it’s own set of problems, and it doesn’t mean you’ll be well received by women either. Think of every show with a female 8 in power- sex appeal is part of their shtick.

The workplace is a tricky environment to navigate in general, and even more so for all the things you mentioned. I, as a critical type 1, have to soften my opinions constantly so I don't burn people out with ways to fix things people are content to keep as is. I hope the 8s movement to the softness of type 2 doesn't feel too much like a "mask" because it should be the deeper, healthier sense of self for the 8 that normally wants to play power games. However, I can see that a female 8 moving to the type 2 may feel odd because society praises women for being in the "helper" role and that may come across as a weak move rather than an empowered choice to become soft, meek, or subservient. Anywho, thanks again for your reflections on this vid!

@@YouveGotaType gave me so much to think about. Still in my compliant or aggressive conundrum. 3 is playing tricks. I KNOW I'm not 8 😬🤭. Not 7 😒. But 3. It makes me want to hurl things at walls, but but is it just my SO subtype. I feel much more compliant. So moooore following my thinking.

Lots of processing ahead :) I tell people to follow the discomfort. The enneagram is all about ego deconstruction - so most of the time the core descriptions wont feel great if we're being honest with ourselves.
