I needed a quick refresher on this for a customer car. Thank you for a great vid!If anyone is interested: it's the same service procedure on most Dodge FWD cars with this 6-spd trans. Seek out a quality rubber or OE Mopar gasket for the pan (unless you like using the messy FIPG and waiting for it to cure)

@YouWrench

Thank you, that is very much appreciated!! They may be saying that due to the mileage, maybe they are assuming it will have been done to schedule in the past, and so currently does not need changing, which could indeed be correct if it has been changed before. But also could be one 175,000 and never been changed. Hard to know unless you know the history of the car well. @@YouWrench yes, thats right! But also could be one of the alleged opinions circulating around that if its high millage and trans fluid hasn’t been changed for a long time or never been changed its better to leave it as is or otherwise transmission might break down with a new fluid. Could you comment that opinion ?

Good video! One item of note I discovered when my new pan arrived (I had hit something on the side of the road that put a good dent in the pan ... and started a very slow leak ... which recently got bigger). The pan looks as if it's like many pans on the bottom of a car ... fairly light. SURPRISE! This pan is a lot heavier than it looks! So before you completely undo those last bolts after getting most of the fluid out, LIFT the pan to get a feel for its weight. You may be surprised! I took my new pan out of the shipping box and was astounded at how heavy it was! A couple other tips ... make sure you have the ATF+4 to hand before you start the job. (i.e. don't get the job underway and use the wife's car to go to the store!!!! All my local famous Canadian auto/hardware stores had NO ATF+4 in stock and the gasket maker I got turned out to want an hour to cure before assembling and then 24 hours to cure before filling ... so I gotta go get an alternative! Oh well, another excuse to call into Timmies for a boston cream.

Great post! Yes, the pans can sometimes be quite a lump! And absolutely, yes ALWAYS get everything you need beforehand, especially BEFORE you drain any fluids, lol! Timmies always wins out!

I'm dealing with the same issue after hitting a chunk of concrete. I have been losing about a quart per day. Fixing it in 2 days from now. One thing I've noticed is that every time I add fluid, I have to run it through the gears before checking the level otherwise the residual fluid in the fill tube messes with my reading.
