Last vid: "oh Gendarmes, wish it was the arrange" This vid: "you called?" Hell yes

7:50 Yes, Falcom has traditionally been doing "super arrange albums" for their game OSTs since 1988. It's hard to put it in words but I think the idea is that since game OSTs serve a certain role in the gameplay, usually the composers have to play by certain rules: for example, making an exploration theme such as this one to have a more constant drive without any breaks, designing a more pleasant loop, and an overall less heavy sound to make it good to listen to for long periods of time. But that is not necessarily representative of what this composition could have been creatively, without any game related considerations. So some of these tracks are selected to be super arranged, as if it was an individual piece of music. In my listening experience, super arranges are still somewhat faithful, often adding some unique sections and instrumentation, but Falcom also does other types of arrange albums that are less faithful to the original material. You have reacted to a "Zanmai" arrangement of Termination (Ys II) before - that counts as one of those.

Such a great arrangement, you can’t really go wrong with having Yukihiro Jindo composing/arranging and Masaru Teramae on guitar. To add to a point about arrange albums seeming common. Falcom have made many over the years and were one of the first games companies that really embraced making and selling albums of their games music. As well as setting up a dedicated band to perform their music live.

This is why there will never be peace when it comes to Falcom music. The band always wakes up and chooses violins.

Regarding arrangements, Nihon Falcom have been doing this for quite some time, considering Ys I & II had the soundtrack arranged for the PC Engine/TurboGrafx version back in the 80s and each port that came later, like Ys I & II Chronicles. They invested hard in the soundtrack department, doing live concerts, like Sega did at the time with SST, and released many CDs with extended and arranged versions of their soundtracks.

Such much Ys. Don't mind though. Could use moars Ys. Especially from the Ys game called Gurumin. Which is totally not an Ys game, but is made by Falcom and has a kickass soundtrack all the same.

5:20 my absolute favourite part of the song, the massive build up to that just explosion of energy, glad to see that physical reaction to it. Also I do agree on Ys8 being a great starting point. All the Ys games besides 1+2 are pretty much standalone from each other, each one being an isolated adventure that Adol embarks on. There's usually references to other games but nothing that *requires* you to play them in any specific order. Ys8 is easily in the top three games on its own, and probably the most approachable for newcomers to the series. Fun fact: It's also the company CEO's favorite game of all time.

Let's GOOOOO!!!!! sorry if you felt pressured by me to put this video out lol, I was just surprised that it wasn't included is all. This track is absolutely insane, they went all out for it and it was the best track in the entire album

I think he should react to the theme of Dana, it's very emotional to the story when Adol discovers her existence while on the island. But it's short of romance since adol always ends up leaving them behind to continue his journey lol.

Have you reacted to Falcom Sen no Kiseki OST? "To become foundation of the world" is my favorite so it might be a good start 😉
