I like this new series. Just like you I'm an old school casual Yugioh fan and I mostly played only because I liked the anime and hardly followed the rules (my friends and I were probably around 8 and barely even spoke english at the time(I'm french canadian)) but the lore was really cool. I think part of the reason all the original cars sucks is because they never needed to sacrifice card in order to summon stronger ones when the card game came out. The creators would put so much stars levels on them to make them seem more intimidating. Then when that rule came around, it basically made those cards useless.

Dude, for real the only time that i have seen GG get summoned was back when I was a kid and me and 2 of my friends would play.They could summon it because we would aways play 2 V 1(them against me, yes i was that smug kid who would duel more then 1 person at once cuz i was just that GOOD).Ahhhhh such memories,making up our own rules and playing card the way they were in the show, because obviously they just printed the wrong text I saw it in the anime :P. Lmao I did the 2v1s too because I taught my friends shortly after I learned and somewhat got the hang of the game. I played a janky Toon/DARK deck and to my friends, Toons were busted (I didn't even have Toon Kingdom and all my Toons were the janky old 500 LP to attack ones). I went undefeated for a while but one tag duel they finally defeat me. I have taught a couple more friends since then and they have all improved immensely and so have I. This Christmas I will have been playing for 7 years as for my friends IDK. But currently I main HEROs, and my friends main: zombies, Blue-Eyes, Monarchs, & HEROs respectively. We were "hardcore casuals" and didn't start going to locals until this year. Ever since then tho we have been competitive (But as u see we don't follow the meta deck wise) and always ask "High roll ok?" instead of a coin flip now. Anyway that was just my story and ur comment brought me back lol.

The only monsters printed with more than 5000 atk are Don Thousand/Monster B and C, with 10'000 and 100'000, but they aren't playable in normal decks, they were boss monsters. So yes, had Gate Guardian had 7000+ atk he would be to this day the monster with the highest base atk in the game.

So basically to make Gate Guardian worth all the effort ,and even possibly great, they need to retrain it so: - it becomes a fusion monster - the attack points are all of them added up, no halving - same for defence points - and let Gate Guardian retain the ability of the cards that it is made of And for balance purposes you'd have to make it even rarer and still keep the same summoning process, though this time it would actually be worth the effort.

I think make it closer to the anime. That thrice per turn you can either make the card immune to the effect of an effect when it's triggered for the rest of the turn or you can block an attack from an opponent's monster. Maybe also that it has 2500 atk but can attack 3 times every turn. Having a monster with 2500 atk basically means it won't be destroyed in battle so launching 3 attacks means you can do a lot more damage.

I summoned gate guardian. I played on dueling network forever ago with a friend where we made a deck to summon ridiculous to summon monsters. I made one for gate guardian and they made one for VWXYZ dragon catapult cannon. It was an experience... I don’t remember much but I did manage to summon the Gate guardian so I think that justifies a spiritual victory if nothing else.

The only thing close to your idea in the actual game, that I can think of, are the original Archfiends, that would roll a die every time they were targeted by an effect and would only go through on odds or evens. Depending on the specifics of your idea, it's either broken or nowhere near useful in the modern metagame. Either way, tossing a coin for literally everything your opponent does isn't the most time efficient or fun way to play Yu-Gi-Oh! :P Although, it would serve your opponent right for not being able to prevent you from getting the Gate Guardian out. Also, "Magic Ruler was kind of a shitty booster" is something I've never heard before. I don't think I'd say that about the set that brought us Painful Choice, MST, Cyber Jar, Giant Trunade, Confiscation, Delinquent Duo, Upstart and Snatch Steal. Also also, if you like ritual monsters so much, have you tried the most (if not only) meta relevant ritual archetype, Nekroz, yet? I am very happy, as a lifelong Yu-Gi-Oh! fan, that, after initially watching you for Bleach content, you're now covering something else I love but we are definitely on the opposite ends of the casual-competitive scale, which makes me wanna make comments like this all the time whenever you do Yu-Gi-Oh! stuff, haha.

As someone who has also never played the game competitively and stopped watching around yugioh GX, I really like the coin flip effect, except I feel like even then it is pretty OP. To make it more fair maybe have them be individual traps that effect different aspects of the dual. That only work if you have the labyrinth out. It would also probably have to be symmetrical too, except your cards such as wall shadow are unaffected by them. Something like this, all of them are trap cards btw. Labyrinth's Darkness: If a player's monster attacks, and "Labyrinth Wall" is in play, first flip a coin. If that player wins the flip, attack as normally. If they lose the flip, that monster cannot attack for the rest of the turn. Labyrinth's Mist: If a player attempts to flip a set card from the spell/trap card zone, and "Labyrinth Wall" is in play, first flip a coin. If they win the flip, proceed as normal, if they lose the flip, they may not flip that card for the rest of the turn. Labyrinth's Void: If a player try's to play a spell card from their hand and "Labyrinth Wall" is in play, first flip a coin. If they win the flip, the card is played as normal, if they lose the flip, set the card instead, it may not be flipped for the rest of the turn. And then to make a good deck around it, have most of your cards be unaffected by the Labyrinth cards effects. It could be a really cool design.

Legit props, you're a real KZbin.* Anyway, more importantly, I think it's extremely disappointing that archetypes like Crystrons should exist in the wake of poor Gate Guardian that revolve around playing Yu-Gi-Oh during your opponent's turn...Why didn't they just make *more Djinn support* for this? But it gets worse! I hope I'm not the only one on the fucking planet who even thought of this, but isn't *Leo, Keeper of the Sacred Tree* our Gate Guardian retrain? He has enough DEF to shrug off a Blue-Eyes, enough ATK to run a Blue-Eyes right into the dirt, the perfect level/Summoning condition/sheer play value balance you'd have expected way back from Metal Raiders, okay...But it's the part about him being *basically fucking immortal* during *your opponent's turn* that's piqued my interest. We need to start with a 3750/3400 retrain that just says something like "During your opponent's turn, this card is unaffected by card effects and cannot be destroyed by battle." You know? He's the *Gate. Fucking. Guardian.* Even Exxod is at least useable in that right! To fit a sort of theme of protecting the weak and the greater good, you could create a new Archetype surrounding retrained versions of not just the Gate Guardian cards, but also the Arcana Knight cards, Call them something like The Holy Gate Guardian, The Holy Arcana Knight Joker, The Holy Kings Knight, Queens Knight ect, because both the sets right now are pretty much useless and aren't going to do you any good, but with a retraining and an archetype you could set it up so they worked well together instead of alone and useless.

This could be fun arc type. You can have continues spell cards that effect column. Then the link monster would have effect like if this card points to a monster you can love it or switch with another monster this card points too on the feild. Wich the spell cards would affect the monster that was swapped to there zone. Then for shits and giggles give them token spam and four link monster thar say if this card goes to the grave yard summon the corresponding jinn or guardian. All the jinns would be link two and the gaurdain would be link three. Then if the gaurdain was linked with three link two monster Simon all three kinds from the deck or graveyard or the hand.

Gate guadian had a use. Back in GX. There was a card named. UFOroid fighter. wich was exactly that. A Fusion of UFOroid and a fighter. and its attack were the the sum of both monsters you used. Best generic fighter in the game was the gate guardian back then. So you throw a polymerisation and combine bth to have a Gate guardian on an UFO with 4950 attack points. Next play Limiter removal to double the attack points, and if the might of one attack with 9900 attack points doesnt crush your opponent, you could throw a defusion in there to split the thing in UFOroid and the gate guardian and attack immediatly with it. Could make pretty surprising OTKs back then.

My friend had/has one and when we were younger we didn’t understand the fact he needed the specific three to summon him so we just let him use Gate Guardian for two tributes

My guess regarding the 3750ATK (instead of 3700), is that 3750 adds to the feeling of having put different monsters together, more than 3700 does. At least I get that awesome feel =)

What you have to realize about Gate Guardian in the anime is though, that while it was one Monster, it kind of wasn't at the same time. It was essentially still Kazejin, Suijin and Sanga of the Thunder just stacked on eachother and still had each of their protection effects to protect each piece using eachothers effects and the only card either Yugi or Joey had that could break throufh that would have been Mirror Force. Furthermore, the 3 parts of Gate Guardian were nerfed so that they could only protect themselves once each. If Gate Guardian essentially got 3 self protects from attacks with the actual combined power of the 3 Monsters and they could protect eachother and you had a Tribute based Deck, Gate Guardian could be a potential threat in the early years of the game and still see a lot of decent casual play. That's not to mention I'm not entirely sure if in the anime they could protect from card effects as well. Gate Guardian and it's pieces are probably the single most nerfed cards to ever exist, and the Winged Dragon of Ra and Slifer the Sky Dragon got bodied on their effects(Albeit Ra quite a bit more) and Gate Guardian and its materials still got screwed over worse.

There's an easy way to summon Gate Guardian if you wanted to use it, send the parts to the graveyard via painful choice, remove them from play with soul release, have soul absorption on the field as well for the last card which is...dimension fusion. You can get all three parts on the field a the same time & you could use this to get some other strong monsters out as well for support like Jinzo or guardian angel Joan.

Actually the reason Black Skull Dragon couldn’t fly was because there was a ceiling above the labyrinth that we couldn’t see because we needed to see the monsters inside. Also Atem meant that it was in the class divinity wise not effect wise at least that’s how I interpreted it.

The monster with the highest attack ever is "Number iC1000: Numeronius Numeronia" with the base ATK and DEF of *100,000!* It's an anime-only card that was used by the big bad of Yugioh Zexel and it one heck of a card. It can not be destroyed by card effect and can only be destroyed by a "Number" monster in battle (the major archetype that the season was based around). The monster itself cannot attack, but your opponent has to attack it. Because if they don't, THEN THEY LOSE THE DUEL!

Gate video. But I was disappointed u didn't mentioned the evolved form of gate guardian from the gx paradox episodes. I think it was dark guardian and it has a really ridonkulous effect of cannot be destroyed.....By battle. If u want to see some ritual action, yusaku became ritual and fusion focus alongside his links at the start the season 2 of vrains.

There’s a fusion from the GX era that has 10,000; but, only when you are attacking with it. The rest of the time it has 0. It has the largest value printed on any card in the game.

Rituals have gotten revitalised as of late. The Vrains Anime connected them and fusion a to links. Nephthys the Sacred Phoenix got a vamped up with plenty of ritual and link support.

all gate guardian needed was to have the same effect as the 3 monsters needed to summon it or make it so that attacking it once per battle not only lowers the attack point of the enemyto zero but the attack point of both the guardian and the enemy gets added up. At least, that way, it would warrant the difficult summoning condition.
