It's clearly the face of a modern Japanese person. To Japanese people at the time, Setsuko Hara's features must have had a Western flavor. Looking at her now, she is tall and has big features, yet her smile somehow gives off a lonely melancholy, making her seem like a woman who was born to become a star.

Thank you very much for this. Lovely video and tribute.
I feel something in common with Hara Setsuko and Nargis(Indian actress). Great actresses.

Shimonov: You got so many stills from Hara's films! How did you do that? I don't know whether to cry or to cheer. Thank you!

Thank you so much for this information! And thank you for posting this video. ("Woman of Tokyo" is on KZbin as well!). Setsuko Hara was a wonderful actress and I get emotional when "Setsuko no uta" was playing with images of a young Setsuko.

So the first song is from Woman of Tokyo (1939), the third song is from Green Mountains (1949), the last music is from Tokyo Story (1953), is that right? What is the second song? Thanks!
