And ritual monsters were so rare that almost no one had them in their deck therefore no one anticipated them. Mai thinking the Dark magician is Yugi's top dawg... then he goes spring the BLS on her like ''surprise bitch'' . heck he even surprised ''Peggy'' with the Magician of Chaos popping up.
