Yukon Gear Heavy Duty Diff Cover - Jeep Dana 44 Install

I recently did an install of the rear cover on an 2013 F 150. I found if you take 2, 2 1/2 bolts with the heads cut off and thread them into the top corners of the differential it gives you posts on which you can slide the cover with the sealant on it to the differential thus not having to worry about alignment of the screw holes and also not having to hold the weight of the cover while getting the screws into the holes. If you have a sway bar that can make things alot easier to work around as you're sliding the cover in between the bar and the diff itself. It worked for me try it. The bolts for alignment were 9mmx 150 thread I believe.

Just put these on. Very nice. Reused my gaskets but had some "Right stuff" in case they didn't seal. The rough surface didn't look gasket friendly but so far so good.

I notice you use just the gasket, no silicone…… is that recommended? I was surprised to see my JEEP/Mopar diff cover came with silicone sealant in the box!

The factory gaskets in the new Advantek axles are awesome. No silicone needed.

They both are strong and will do the job. We would say which one do you like the looks of better.

Both the Yukon and aFe diff covers are nice. No complaints from us on either one.

If you put a diff skid plate do you really need to change the covers

If the diff skid protects your diff cover, you should be good with the stock unit.

There is a drain plug built into the axle now.
