I always check on the rope perches every day. But It’s still nerve racking! I am going to replace them with grapevine next paycheck! I hate how so many toys come with unsuitable/dangerous materials. Especially when they have definitely been directly linked to death multiple times.They don’t regulate small pet care enough in my opinion.

The rat cage is definitely too small, even for just three rats (you should always have three rats as a minimum because a pack starts at three, not two rats). You should also add several full tiers, not just those tiny ones, because a) it adds floorspace and b) it protects from fall damage. For seven rat boys, I have a cage that's 115 x 67,5 x 153 cm with four full tiers and lots of hides, houses, hammocks and toys. They love it.

@Aura_Dastler Tv My rats don't chew on plastic, they don't like it, so I only use plastic houses etc aswell. It's way easier to clean, especially if you get some kind of parasites or diseases, plastic is way easier to really deep clean and sterilize. They get branches and nuts and other chewing stuff for their teeth so they aren't interested in the plastic at all. This really depends on the individual animal. Plastic isn't bad if they don't ingest it. :)
@awetistic5295
@awetistic5295 3 жыл бұрын
@Aura_Dastler Tv Plastic is usually okay for rats. For some weird reason, they love plastic hides like the Sputniks and often prefer them to wood. Many rats will chew on them, but don't swallow the plastic. You do have to check for any sharp edges the rats might injure themselves on and provide wood and chew toys as well.
@lay5395

I agree. I have a cage which is 180 cm x 80 cm x 220 cm for four rats. Cages don't need to be that big, but the cage in the video is wayyyyy too small for ten rats. Plastic in rat cages is okay in my opinion if they don't chew on it. Mine never chew on plastic and don't even chew that much on wood, they go absolutely wild on cardboard tho XD

Yeah people should just not trust any pet items until they research. They would be better off making their own, sisal rope is cheap and has uses for many animals! Same goes for food, especially treats. Kaytee (shocker!) is especially bad; just because it's sold as safe for your pet doesn't mean it is! Most of it is so bad... Honestly even Kaytee's timothy hay sucks, it's half dust.

@@maddirose6933 yeah, my 2 guinea pigs I used to have lived in a chicken coop. What I say is (I’m Australian btw) For guinea pigs or hamsters get like a rabbit hutch or chicken hutch for 2 guinea pigs or hamsters (you should have 2 guinea pigs cause they can die from boredom and such), for rabbits do not go less then a chicken coop, most of the time “rabbit hutches” are the size for a guinea pig cage. You can also make your own cage :) in the corner of your house or in the backyard. Sadly we had to give them away, we were getting a dog and that. Sort of dog loves eating rabbits and like guinea pigs (small animals) so yeah :c

Like 15 years ago, a friend of my parents move out and dropped a 20g tank on our house. Water was totally green, no filter and totally impossible to see anything inside "I think a fish or two are still alive, good luck", she says and storms off. Dad puts a filter we had from our old tank and the thing starts working. After a few days the water was cleaner and we saw not just one or two guppy, but over maybe 300 hundreds of them, all swimming one above the others, it was crazy... Moved part of them into an even bigger tank my father custom made from one of these ikea shelves people use as cages and had them for years until they were slowly dying from all the inbreeding on subsequent generations, less fish were born and more of them with body deformities. We still cared for them until the last one passed away 3 years ago. So, yeah, they breed like crazy...

I have a 600+ litres tank and we got around 15 guppies. They loved that place so much, we ended up with so many and the guppies just kept getting more and more eggs. They also bred with neon tetras (didn't know it's possible) and we ended up with crazy mixed fish that had unique colours etc. One had a genetic alteration however, her spine was snapped in half (it wasn't a damage, she was alive) and she looked like a boomerang. She was infertile but lived her best life, as long as other fish. I was just worried she might be in pain but she ate very well and even swam just as quick as others in her own way! We have only miniature shrimps and a few fish that eat glones now.

When I turned 9, I got a hamster for my birthday. I was excited, but my parents expected me to know how to take care of him and left me to do everything myself. When the poor guy finally passed, he was in a little dirty cage with no food and I felt so bad. I also overhandled him which led to him being aggressive. Now i have 4 chickens that I would be able to tell apart from the same breed in a heartbeat. They have a big space (no free range since they can definitely jump over the wall and they eat the plants) with clean water every 2 days, clean cage once a week, and I only pick them up if they start following me or if they are doing something they aren’t supposed to be when they do get to go out.

In response to the home made perch tied with rope, it looked like a jute or sisal which are both natural and bird safe if they're untreated. Other good options are hemp rope, paper rope and leather string that has been treated with vegetable oils. Ropes that are made with artificial fibres (like colourful rope bird toys) are usually the main cause of rope toy impactions 🙁

I agree with everything except for the saucer wheel part. I've always used them for my mice as it takes away any concern with how big the wheel should be for their spine etc. I've never seen my mice fly off (although I have seen videos) and they always stop nicely. For me I would rather have them fall off the side onto their soft substrate then go up with the wheel and fall down. Some of my mice even run then stop to sit on it as it's turning, then run again to make it go faster. It's actually super adorable to watch, like kids at the play park :')

Yeah, ropes are super dangerous to birds. One of my budgies had to have a nearly 2 gram rope fiber clump surgically removed. The whole ordeal was quite nerve-wrecking, but he is fine now. Out of the aviary there still are some rope perches but they are usually supervised and I check them regularly. My rope eater seemed to mainly love chewing on tassels so even outside of the aviary there are none of those. Tassels are generally known to be dangerous, as birds can get stuck in them.

There is literally no such thing as a 'too big' tank/enclosure for a pet. If you have the room to get them a huge tank, go for it! Remember that these animals have unlimited space in their natural habitat, so the more space you can offer them, the better.

Hi there, I came across your channel recently and I love your content! You take very nice care of your pets and you seem sweet! I have a 40 gallon aquarium that is short in width. I’ve realized from watching your channel, is much too small for my two large Plecos, and two gold fish, of which one is very large. I purchased a much longer tank, and will be setting it up for a transfer. I also bought a load of real water plants and driftwood pieces. I can’t wait to see the new set up complete! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and advice. Your tanks are amazing!

My pet birds have a very small cage and I really want them to have a more bigger one, as for me I am only a little kid so people don’t think that I am right and no matter how hard I try I always end up loosing. I want to be a vet when I grow up and you inspire me so much! Keep up the good work and the animals you love! ☺️😊🙃🙂

You might want to try bringing up evidence, and coming up to them and saying "Listen. I understand I'm young, but if there's one thing I'm learning in school it's how to research. And yeah, I'm not the best at it, but I'm good at researching things I love and I love those birds, and they're not happy in there cage. I'll do extra chores, whatever you want, but please. Just help me upgrade there space." Or something like that. ~Was a professional bullshitter with a Karen-level mom~

I recently found out that the bed we had for our ferret for like 2 years, her favorite, had a lining inside of it that was killing ferrets. I only found out because I was looking on Amazon for a replacement because it was worn out and looked at the reviews for a different style of the same little bed. It's just an animal shaped cloth, like an empty stuffed animal where the legs are like cloth tubes. I dont know what else to call it but a bed because she loved to sleep in it. I'm really lucky our ferret didn't die. Always check reviews. My husband originally bought it at a pet store, so we had no way of knowing that but I obviously took it out and won't be getting another.

I would make a boing from stainless steel and either wood, coral, or natural fiber rope like hemp, sissel, paper, leather, or jute. I guess leather and paper are the best because they don’t break into fibers that get stuck, idk there are paper and cardboard toys so it might be a good twine material. Also palm leaves if woven can be a good rope substitute.

For the betta tank at 10:49 yeah, it’s not just u that hates plastic plants. They can be extremely bad for the fish since plastic plaints are usually pretty sharp and hard so when your fish goes to swim through them it can hurt the fish.

My dad would rescue mice and keep them in tanks, he would put all kinds of entertainment and hideaways for them in there. One particular mouse he rescued loved toilet paper roles and drift wood. He also rescued a chipmunk one time and he was the sweetest. He’d hang out on your head, shoulders, climb in your shirt, and if you smiled he’d try to clean your teeth lol. After he rescued him we let him go, we’d feed him seeds and other things, he was a great companion

My hamster cage has 2 floors, master Shaggy thinks it’s too small for her though. It has tubes connected to another All Living Things enclosure, this time a Tiny Tales sky dome. She hides her food in the tubes! She also has a pink flower spinner that I think is 10 inches (just big enough for her to fit on).

My budgie has a pretty big cage, I’m not sure the exact dimensions of it, and he can’t fly properly and he’s so cute and we’ve been teaching him how to fly and now he can go from one window to the other in our kitchen. He’s out literally all day and he’s been getting so much better at being a bird. Also, no one asked, but a lil’ backstory of why he can’t fly properly. So my sister and our neighbours have a little pet rescue going, they redone pets and take them in. They recently had heard about this women who was like breeding birds like a maniac and so they went and they rescued some (they posted about it on their page, so more people would hear about it and go rescue some birds) and they were gonna go back the next day to get some more, just like trying to get as many away from her as possible. So my sister saw Blue, our budgie, and he was just like the ugliest little bird ever; he couldn’t fly, he didn’t have any proper distinctions, he couldn’t like chirp properly. And she loved him. So she bought him over to our house (in a small cage which we use to transport him if we need to) and I held him and my mum held him and we thought ‘oh, we have to convince dad’. Our dad is a sucker for animals, especially ones with special needs. We have a cat with one eye, a rabbit who we had to raise, a hamster who we rescued from a bad home and a chinchilla who doesnt have special needs but she’s kinda hyper. So the point is: my dad loves animals and loves to help them. He came home, we explained the situation and now Blue and my dad are best friends. All in all, we have three hamsters, four rabbits, a chinchilla, a cat, a budgie and a chicken, all who have very enriched lives. I just wanted to share this little story because... I wanted to?

So I own two rats and have around the same size cage and the amount of rats in that cage it’s way to small for so many. And it’s really empty, it needs more enrichment and things to climb on. If my vision is correct those are vertical bars so they can’t climb on it really well. I would put in more hammocks and the wheel is to small. I also like to change up the toys and stuff ones in a while or so, to keep them entertained and this cage is just very empty.

Tip! All birds are different, and if your bird happens to not be a chewer you can get a rope perch. But not those balls of stringy... thingies... any bird can go wrong with those... Anyway, if your bird IS a chewer Sisal rope is completely bird healthy!! I am not talking down on this video, just want to give a tip. :) (Also if you notice your rope perch with chew spots take it out IMMEDIATELY! Maybe find some Sisal!)

its not the best idea to do that because it would stress the cat out hearing bird sounds but not being able to hunt because thats their natural instinct. but it could work as long as you keep the bird cage in a seperate room with the door locked and dont even allow them to be together.

I watch your videos to make sure I am giving my cockatiel a nice life. We got him in a travel carrier as his sleeping cage, and he only ate seed with the previous owners. My vet has helped me transition him to a pellet diet with lots of variety and he gained 50% body mass in about 3 months to a healthier 75g (which is much higher than his underweight 56g when we got him). I got him a bigger cage (45cm deep, 35cm wide and 104cm tall), but it's still a bit small. I am hoping to upgrade his cage again to the same one you have in the background when we move. This way we can get him a friend as well and he has plenty of room. Otherwise, I am thinking of building him a large enclosure myself so he has plenty of flying room when we are away. Until the house is built, I think I will focus on getting him some more toys though. He only had two toys that are very well loved and used. It's been very slow to try and introduce him to new toys, as he gets scared of them really easily. So I have to slowly introduce him over a week or two until he is more comfortable for it.

Plastic plants do hurt Beta fishes! I had a beta for a year with live plants but because i had to change my room and only place i could put the tank was did not agree with the plants so they slowly died. It was a really stressful and busy time for me so i thought if i bought fake plants my fish would still have something in his tank. For like a month everything was going great, i didn't notice anything bad but as i said i was very busy and honestly wasn't spending time with my fish like a did last year. After I had to leave home for 2 weeks (my parents took care of the fish but they don't know much outside of my instructions so they were not able to notice something going bad) I noticed nearly the half of the tail of my fish was GONE. I wrote in forums, tried to find the reason but no one said anything about the plastic plants even though i said i had them. Then someone recommended to make the tank plainer so i would be able to observe more. After taking out all plastic plants and only leaving a hide, i noticed his tail and overall body was looking a lot better. We don't have any vets for fishes here so i was just getting advice from forums, but i think i did something wrong or was too late because he died in the next 2 months even though he looked like he was going great... It was very hard for me and I do not recommend fake plants epecially the ones with smaller leaves that the fish can swim through the plant.

I don't use the rope toys anymore as several times I had a bird get its claw stuck in the fibres and could not get free. One bird nearly starved to death in the pet show aviary as no one noticed it was suck because it just looked like it was perched on the rope toy.
