Irving and Durant are All time scorers. But besides that scoring their either average or below average at every other aspect of basketball. For example, they are very tunnel visioned and pretty much always think score first all the time. So there are multiple possessions where they decide that they are going to shoot no matter if they get double teamed or draw multiple defenders to them. So having Irving and Durant as your star duo is flawed as they are extremely redundant in what they give to a roster : All Time Scoring Ability.
@enthusiastofcute2 жыл бұрын
Also, extra flawed in the fact that Durant and Irving are ISO style players who barely move off ball and usually park themselves in a spot during a possession if they don’t have the ball. (Big reason why a guy like Steph can fit with other great players very well because he can still be extremely effective and influential without the ball, so Steph pairs nicely with a ball dominant teammate like KD)

@TuNnL2 жыл бұрын
Kyrie's real problem is he's a SG who spent most of his life playing PG. Heck, at one point, LeBron James pulled Kyrie on the side and told him, "You will NEVER have a zero assist game again, on my team." How does a PG playing heavy minutes even have zero assists in a basketball game? On the small kid playground, you call that dude a "ball hog." Irving finally learned that lesson by the time James Harden came to Brooklyn. What Uncle Drew didn't understand was that Harden wasn't "all in" on the KD-Kyrie banana boat. 🍌⛵ James sort of just ended up in Brooklyn when 76ers GM Daryl Morey (temporarily) got outbid by Nets GM Shaun Marks in the Houston Rockets trade sweepstakes. So, Harden figured, "what the hell, let's play along, and see where this goes." People what to make more out Brooklyn's 'Big Three' than it really was. It was a 16-game sample size, and they didn't even win all 16 of them. How are you going to call that more successful than the 16 straight games Kyrie won in Boston after Gordon Hayward fractured his ankle? Clearly, Irving is a lone wolf, and anything BUT a captain who makes his teammates better. But his ball-handling is something to watch, when he's healthy, 'aint it? 💁🏻♂️🏀😉

I think this is what sets the great players apart from the champions. The champions adapt and evolve their game to what the team needs to win. But with guys like KD, Kyrie and even Harden and Westbrook they will keep on doing what they're doing and the whole team/coaching has to adjust around them. It's almost never gonna be them adjusting to make the team as a whole better. Ironically KD had the most success when he fit into the Golden State system. Heck I even remember watching in Michael Jordan's documentary how he had to become a better playmaker and rely more on his teammates in order to get over the Pistons. So if the GOAT (in my opinion) can do it, what's stopping these guys. Aren't they seeing that the way they're going about things isn't working.
KD was NEVER the best player in the world. Lebron 2008-2020 Giannis 2020- Now. KD was never the best player in the world. NEVER!!!

Thanks for another banger, Yung Mustard. I really wanted Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to prove their haters wrong, but in the end, they proved them right. You can't help but admire both of these player's individual games, but in the end, we all should have seen the writing on the wall when the Brooklyn Nets desperately outbid the Philadelphia 76ers for James Harden. People forget that Kyrie let it leak out that he told the front office before the trade that he didn't think the Nets needed Harden. And if that wasn't enough, the very first day James got to Brooklyn, Irving handed Harden the ball and said, "you be the point guard." That should tell you all you need to know about Uncle Drew's desire to be a playmaker. So who was supposed to do it once Daryl Morey finally got the man he was trying to trade Ben Simmons for over a year for? You can't ask KD to do it, as that's just not what players in the front court are generally good at. They call the position POINT guard, because you play the point, the captain, the general, and for all intents and purposes, the master playmaker of the team. Is that Kyrie's talent? I'm an Irving fan, have followed him since Cleveland, and SUPPORTED him on his vaccine stance. I can tell you for a fact, that is NOT his talent. Sure, he doubled back and TRAINED himself to be a better passer after LeBron announced on social media that he told Uncle Drew he was not allowed to have a "zero assist" game stat line, EVER again. But Kyrie's true talent is ball-handling and scoring. Period. 💁🏻♂️🏀
