I was 12 years old when the song came out and it fit my life...in a sad way...a juvenile reformatory kind of way. It wasn't my fault. But then...I suppose it was. I was a child and reacting to my environment.

Funny how one Cat Stevens song hooks you in and you end up listening to a bunch of his beautiful words and music for hours. Where will they play? We have to ensure they can , have a place to and are Free to Play . Peace , Happy Holidays and stay well.

I know we've come a long way, we're changing day to day, but tell me where do the children play ? This song brings tears to my eyes now, children are in the news everyday there is so much unkindness in our world, and the children are being trampled upon. I had hoped we would have answered this question long ago. Please keep asking it Yusuf. I love you ,Thank you .

Your lyrics are so poignant and thought provoking. I remember laying on the grass on the side of the house I grew up in, watching the clouds rolling across the sky, finding shapes and all kinds of things. I remember riding my bike up and down the neighborhood; knowing at least 3 families on each block. Being adventurous was riding my bike with the Mayer boys, down by the railroad tracks, and trying not to let my Mom and Dad know. (They knew!). Where do children go now? They are not as free as I was. They have to stay close by so nothing untoward happens to them. They don’t know the fun of riding down a big hill on your bike, only to lose the pedals on a bump at bottom, hang on for dear life until the bike slows enough to get your feet back on, Laughing and screaming (there were only factories that were closed for the night) at the top of your lungs, and getting the righteous feeling that between God, Jesus, & the Holy Spirit, you defied death in that one ride down that huge hill.

The love of my life had a very good friend who sounded so much like Cat. They played in Montauk together, the summer of ‘87, & drew huge crowds b/c hearing from the outside w/o seeing them, ppl were blown away that it wasn’t Cat! He was exact on ‘Lisa’ & my guy would sit that one out. They did Father & Son beautifully. Great memories. Wish I had a do over for just that time. I’d of done things quite differently. Alas, we get one round here. Next stop, eternity. And I look forward to seeing the love of my life here, for all of it, in God’s Great Heaven. Where a whole other kind of music will fill the air!🙌 Hope I see his friend there, too. And pray that ‘Cat’ realizes who his Savior is, before it’s too late.🙏

Thank you Cat Stevens for saying in the seventies that the total population was important. My father did special speeches through toast masters in the fifties and sixties to wake up others to take care of the planet. He was so innovative he encouraged soda bottles that could be returned for reuse and it encouraged children and adults to who needed income to recycle them so there would be less garbage on the planet: Because the glass ones can be refilled after being washed. They got money for them no one wanted to break them and cause flat bicycle and automobile tires. His name was Charles Peter. Be grateful the Pope said all nations should allow civil unions those decent choose alternate lifestyles. Glad Allah not want this for Muslim countries. Is best if those who were on illegal drugs do not make children because the children of humanity deserve to be born in innocence. I forgive the circle K guy who bought me gas three years ago of everything because he was all alone and needed my help and he was scared to say what he saw and went through all alone by himself. It is not okay to be greedy and make more machines. Fix what is here now and please not robots that look like people. Muslims like to live humble. Eon m... might be a little nuts and he will NOT WIN.
