Saludos y gracias.

At the time of this race, Jeremy Wariner could have run a 19.8 or better in the 200. This race was not just about strength and endurance like many believe. Almost everyone that has run sub 44 in the 400 meters has run sub 20 seconds in 200 meters at some time if they run the 200 meters regularly like Michael Norman.
@slimjakey

Outstanding quality man. I think wariner went 10.9, 21.1 and then 31.9. That means he did an 11.5X homestretch, just like michael johnson in his world-record run (11.52). If he can improve his 200/300 speed just a little bit, then the world record can be his one day. Don't forget he's relatively still young. Michael Johnson was 32 when he ran 43.18, So he still has time....

The reason why they are positioned differently in each starting point is to be sure that everyone runs the same distance. It may not look like they're running the same distance but they are. Cause if everyone started at the starting line, they would be running extra meters they shouldn't have to run.

Yes, he definitely has. If he only trained for 200 meters he would be sub 20. I mean early in 2006 he ran a 20.1 without specific training for the event. What do you think he would run in the 2 if the 2 was his main-event an would run it in august with the best competition and in the best conditions. He wouldn't beat bolt of course, but still be way under 20 seconds, i don't even doubt that. For this year, i have confidence that hart gets him back to mid to low 43 range and win the gold.

@MrKarlozz Michael Johnson also ran 20.07 FAT for 200 meters, at age 21 and while injured, at a time when the World Record was still 19.72. He was constantly injured during his NCAA career at Baylor. The key was, he didn't give up, so when he was healthy, he could reach his true potential.

Meritt isnt in the same class as Wariner. If you look at a list of the fastt 400 metre runners of alltime. Two guys have gone under 44 seconds more than anyone else. They are of course Michael Johnson and Jeremy Wariner. Merrit has a PB of 43.75 his only sub 44 second time. To be greater than Wariner he has to run more sub 44 second times and faster than 43.45 until then Wariner is number 2 alltime.

I don''t know if your serious or djoking, but there is no way wariner split 20.4 ate the 200 m mark. If he went out that hard he would have absolutely nothing left on the homestraight and die like a dog and not even break for 44. i red on the internet that it was 21.1, that's what he said himself, and that's more likely. Only Bolt and Blake might split 20.4 if they move up to the 4 and at the same time are still able to run sub 19.5 for 200 meters.

phaethon1988 Don't bet on it my friend. He's not even in the top five times for 2015. My money is on Van Niekerk from South Africa. He has the 3rd best time for 2015 but he looks so relaxed at the end of the races. Having to run heats, I think his fitness level is no. 1 in the world.
@phaethon1988
@phaethon1988 9 жыл бұрын
Merritt's 31.5 in Atlanta tells me he's rounding into the shape that had him win Moscow. Niekerk is impressive, but he's not a proven performer after rounds, so he's actually a riskier bet. Merritt is battle tested and almost always brings his best to championships. I'll concede that it won't be this fast; it'll be closer to 43.65
