I wouldn't worry about the title if you aren't planning on making it street legal. I have bought/sold many dirtbikes without titles. People rarely keep them.

Some states require a title to get the state DNR "green sticker" to ride on public lands. Never buy a bike without a title. It's a major hassle. no way to know if it is just plain stolen.

Here in Arizona you can write a letter give it to DMV and DMV will send it to the last registered owner and if nothing is heard from like within 30 days you can file for an abandoned title and then the bike is yours. That's Arizona

You gotta have a title to ride on public mx tracks and parks? You must live in Commiefornia. You should move down south and nobody will bother you on an untagged unregistered bike unless you are riding down the middle of the road. Hell even then they won't mess with you if you're in the country.

In Indiana if the off road vehicle is more than 6 years old you don't have to have the title just a bill of sale and as long as it doesn't come back as stolen you pay 30 bucks and your the registered owner.

@chrisdk56656 жыл бұрын
actually, you do need to register any vehicle with a motor on it before you can make any use of it at all. I know this because i want to build a go kart and iv been told that the authorities would take it off me and have it crushed if it was not taxed/insured/MOT cert AND a roadworthy vehicle. I.e blinkers,brakes and all that good stuff. Now, if you find someone who owns a piece of land and you have their permission , you would be able to use your vehicle without any documentation or have the need for it to be roadworthy. And People wonder why the youth here are all tied into drugs/alcohol and becoming parents at 16. The law takes all your fun away leaving you with nothing else to do but get shitfaced

I've never owned a dirt bike with a title. On all my vintage stuff, the titles are typically lost to the sands of time decades before you ever get near the thing. Most States don't require any sort of registration for off-road use and so the title just gets lost or thrown out or something, during that period of time when the thing is used-chainsaw cheap. You don't have a title to your PC or your refrigerator, and people treat cheap off-road bikes the same way. Only gets to be a problem if it's a dual-sport (we used to call them enduros) that you're un-stripping to put back on the street, or if it makes its way to a State that does require registration for off-road tags.
@jessesnacks7 жыл бұрын
I know I'm about 4 years late lol but you could have done a lien sale. if its not claimed in 30 days they will issue you a new title. If you still do this a lot, you may want to keep this in mind. there are several places that do DMV work so you don't have to. PS. im stuck in a hotel in Saudi waiting for my flight home and ran across your videos. you remind me of my brother. Keep them coming!

I know it's late but there is paper work you file with the dmv you hold a lean sale on the vehicle and they give the last registered owner mail and a heads up if they never reply the within the time frame with the value of the bike or what your asking they can put it in your name. Then apply for a new title
@jeffreywaltiere48306 жыл бұрын

In the situation where you have a vehicle or anything with wheels that goes on public road that was registered but title is lost the DMV can help you most of the time the clerks there dont even know but what you need is an APPLICATION FOR AN ABANDONED VEHICLE fill out that and the DMV will contact the registered owner and tell them they have property they need to get now 9 times out of ten theyre not going to respond if they did i mean they couldnt just take it psh. So anyway once they dont respond it takes a while but the DMV can get you a title for it i mean the government wants you to pay taxes and stuff they like money there is a way. The reason i know this is because my friend and i both bought jetskis without title to the trailer and we wanted to be lagit so we worried the crap out of the DMV and finally researched enough to figure it out and both got our titles.

+mooman333 sorry i've never had to do a rebuild, always had good luck with a thorough cleaning. I believe people who work for places where we get titles and such don't really know their job. There should be a way to apply for a title, and then there should be a certain amount of time, and if nothing shows up, you get a new title. They should have all the records, and it shouldn't be on anyone but the title agency or the state for all that.

Why do you need a title, its a dirt bike? If your not making it street legal you dont need it. Well in Pennsylvania you dont need a title unless you get it confiscated or someone steals it and the cops recover it, you will need a title to get it from them or some proof of ownership but other than that you dont need it.
