@JohnEastmanExAttyAtLaw Well in boxing there's two categories of fighters generally speaking, ones that are known for brawling and ones that are more known for their technical boxing skills and neither of these two could be confused with the latter for the most part. What their trilogy of fights offered however was exhibition of pure will and desire to win with every round being action packed. I can't stand to watch a fight where two guys dance around or frequently clench onto each other, it's a poor display of boxing. The Ward vs Gatti fights were reminiscent of other action filled fights I've seen over the years such as Hagler vs Hearns for instance and I really don't think anyone would describe that one as looking like two amateurs pummeling each other.

For every boxing fundamental that Mikey Ward lacked, he made up in sheer brutality & heart. He was a work horse and a bruiser. Never there to be cute but there to inflict hurt. When Zab fought Ward he was already 33 years old with 8 losses. So they considered him a journeyman (someone who fights in boxing knowing that they’ll probably never win a world title). They pretty much matched Zab because they knew Mikey would give him the 12 rounds he needed to developed his career and he was probably gonna out box him. But god does a man like Ward test you...
@aronlane46645 жыл бұрын
Zab at his best, it might not have been the most impressive result but that's because Ward covered up and is tough and has a good chin, this version of Zab loses to nobody except for occasionally being knocked out, he did show his lack of mental toughness when he got caught by the body shot but I still think he might've won that round due to his jab and using his movement to avoid punishment , his finest moments in the ring are my favourite it's just a pity he didn't have the mentality to do it for extended periods and there's nobody to blame but himself as his dad was a trainer that gave him the right advice, his career although excellent could've been far greater

I want to give credit to both Mickey Ward and Emanuel Augustus. 2 of the toughest guys that have ever stepped into a boxing ring. They’re record probably didn’t reflect it , but I see why Zab and Floyd I didn’t see at first why Zab called Mickey his toughest opponent but I see why . These guys are hard to really hit to much and they keep coming and don’t quit . Floyd really beat Augustus up pretty bad but he never stopped coming. Mickey Ward was kind of the same way . He wasn’t very potent on the offensive end, but he never quit .Those fights were probably meant as get me over fights for Zab and Floyd but they turned into much more than that . It was good they fought these type of guys early in their careers. It in my opinion ,especially for Floyd who is top 5 or 10 all time , compelled them both to hall of fame legendary careers . Mickey Ward or Emmanuel Augustus weren’t going to hand anything to you they weren’t paper guys in there to taking a beating and get a check and make the up and coming young fighter look good , they were going to take you out if you didn’t come ready to fight and take them lightly. I just wanted to give credit to those 2 guys . Boxing needs more guys like them today .

5 minutes to recover from a professional punch directly to the cup doesn't seem like enough time.

Micky Ward is 1 of the most exciting welterweights 2 ever grace the 4 corners. Epitomizing the essence of victory by way of blood n' guts and the amount a fighter can spill 2 leave behind in the ring. Those work ethics make working class, day-2-day guys like Mick immortal. A perfect example being his rival of their bloodsoaked trilogy, Arturo 'Thunder' Gatti. That's y the working class ppl that appreciated the type of throwback fighters these dudes were knew about the approaching storm coming b4 the opening bell sounded 4 Gatti vs. Ward 1. I think good ol' Jim Lampley 4rm HBO sports summed it up best wen he was calling the fight that night. He said ' I'm truly honored 2 have witnessed wut transpired between these 2 warriors here 2night in Uncasville, CT... A throwback 2'the golden era in boxing. Straight outta the 1950"s " . That's wut it was 2 the key and on point.

I think the shot ZJ talks about with Vlad is 27:57 or it's the short left shortly thereafter at 28:24.

Judah, berto and broner remind me of each other in the sense of all are God gifted boxers with speed, skill, accuracy, power but, something mentally in or out of the ring kept them from being fully great
@BorderlinePimp4 жыл бұрын
Rome Turner Berto was stiff, Judah could of been better but he redeemed himself enough and was much better at his peak to be compared to berto and broner
