Something a lot of people overlook about GTA 4 was the sense of freedom it gave the player. At the end of the story, Niko had nothing to tie him down. No girlfriend, no criminal empire to run, no businesses to defend, etc.. You could just wake up in the Algonquin safe house, go downstairs to the street and do whatever you wanted. If you wanted to hook up with a girl online, you could use Lovemeet. If you wanted to go to a restaurant or bar with a friend, just call them up. You could walk to Middle Park, The Libertonian, Stat Junction, you could take a helicopter tour, cruise around or just take the subway to the beach. GTA 4 was the ultimate upper-middle class single guy in NYC simulator.

Vice city for its time was the best. Best main story to play, some good side missions, big variety of weapons, clothes change, buy properties, music was the best of any GTA game. Pesron on this video saying vice city cant be top because compared to later games it wasnt as good graphically or gamplay wasnt as smooth well its ps2 compared to ps3 and ps4 of course it wont be as good. And unlike later GTA games i could piss around for hours on vice city and not get bored so quick. For its time it was the best.

For me personally (and this applies to all of the 3D universe games, not just SA), while all of the games from VC onward are fantastic, the mechanical and technical improvements of the HD universe games (I.E. better shooting mechanics, ragdoll physics, cars not exploding when they flip over, cops that aren’t fooled just from a color change etc.) make the 3D universe games difficult to go back to for anything other than the main stories.

I think most people relate to the GTA they grew up playing! Nothing will ever beat San Andreas for me! It wasn’t about graphics, at the time to us it looked like red dead 2 but the game play was unreal no GTA game till this day has compared everything else just seemed to have something missing like in GTA 4 no underwater? Vice City being ranked below GTA 3... No. Just no. I just completed GTA 3 for the first time. The only reason I could see anyone liking it is for nostalgia. Many of the missions were rage inducing. Every GTA is built off the groundwork that 3 made, but every GTA is 10x better than GTA 3 as a result. I can't say I'll ever be playing GTA 3 again after having played every GTA game to date (minus GTA Advance and 2).

@@-CrimsoN- Sorry but no. The Vice City map is simple and confusing. They're just two long islands almost identical to each other, and the journeys don't feel like an open world. The Sandbox sensation that GTA 3 creates would not make VC for a thousand years. It's annoying to move around Vice City. I remember trying a thousand times to get to a place simply because the streets and roads didn't make sense. The story is a version of Scarface. It is possibly the worst GTA alongside Vice City Stories from the 3D universe. Hopefully GTA 6 will take place in VC and surely the map will be much better done. I played VC and GTA 3 for the first time last year, and it took a lot of effort to pass VC on how bad it was for me. Instead, GTA 3 surprised me, it is a story of hitmen and mafia very well built, the city is much better made and as you can see, I am not affected by nostalgia.
