Theoretically, you can play the low b natural in third or second position using the trigger. But it is a pedal note that doesn’t sound as full as on a bass trombone, tuba, euphonium french horn, etc. It is because the tuba, euphonium and horns have what is known as a conical bore which gives it a more mellow, warm sound.
@LowBrassU3 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is partially correct. The B natural can be played as a "false tone" but that is outside of the scope of this video. You are correct in that it generally does not retain the same tone quality. If it is necessary to play a low b natural with a single valve, I would recommend pulling the attachememt valve slide to E.

@@LowBrassU I will try pulling out the extra slide on my f attachment. I already played using the trombone’s main tuning slide and I get a powerful low eb with both my trigger and straight tenor trombone. I have a tried a pedal eb and it’s not a great sound without the trigger. It sounds less open, goofy and raspy. I kid you not. 🙃 😂
@LowBrassU3 жыл бұрын
@@keithshockley3443 @Keith Shockley That is not surprising. Depending onthe quality of the valve and the type of F attachment wrap, it is going through several more turns than the open horn with the main tuning slide pulled. It is possible to get a good sound with the valve with some practice.
@keithshockley34433 жыл бұрын
@@LowBrassU I have a cheap closed wrap trigger trombone and got mine for around 200 - 300 dollars. You can probably get a better and bigger sound with a more expensive trombone such as them intermediate or professional level horns.

I played trombone from fourth grade all the way up through my sophomore year in college. I’ve since gotten rid of my trombone, I’m 56 years old, and I’m looking to invest in a decent trombone, used, and trying to determine whether or not I want to buy one with an attachment.this has been very helpful

Other than 2nd and 7th position, does an f attachment change fingerings or make more fingerings available?

At the end of the video you said it will say in trombone Bb/F, i am debating on purchasing a jupiter trombone but the instrument key said Key of Bb. can you tell me if its the same thing also the name of the trombone is a Jupiter Intermediate Bb Slide Trombone with F Attachment JTB1150FO if you can tell me if that is a good instrument to buy for a trombonist looking for an F attachment in price range
@LowBrassU2 жыл бұрын
It may say Bb and not Bb/F. If the product description mentions an F attachment it will have a valve. Does this make sense?

what was the name of the trombone with the f attachment that you used in this video, and would you recommend it for a middle school trombonist

I am playing an Edwards T-350. It's a great instrument but I'm not sure I would recommend a custom trombone priced at $4500 for a middle school student. There are more affordable options from companies such as Bach, Conn, Yamaha, Getzen, Eastman Etc. I hope this helps!
