Okay, so I kinda get where Zayn is coming from. To me, he’s saying that because he did not like himself until now that it interfered with his capacity for love. Yes, he was engaged and has a child and got Gigi’s eyes tatted on him but what if those relationships were only half loves? Maybe strong infatuation? It sounds messed up but we are flawed beings. So many people are in relationships to fill a void or as a distraction. Or to not be alone. He talks now about finally liking this person he is now and maybe with this new found self acceptance he can later on be able to love someone in full. I don’t take what he said as an insult towards any of his previous relationships (still I get if his partners do) cause to me he is being honest about how he does not believe he has experienced real romantic love. Love in the ways that his previous partners have deserved and not just half because he was too afraid to even love himself and be truthful to himself. Many times relationships end when one partner is giving their all and the other is not. I think that may have been the case with him many times. Because of fear of love or commitment or perception. Anyway, I wish him the best.
