Strange how this song reminds me so much of that Jazz-fusion band “Weather Report” who had a very original sound. They were quite hypnotic and revolutionary. This song seems to capture their essence nicely. Tal is amazing. So is Frank Zappa’s son.
@dennismccunney44623 жыл бұрын
People tend to lose sight of what a great guitarist Frank was. Son Dweezil seems to have inherited dad's instincts and ability. I understand Tal began as a guitarist back home in Australia, till another guitarist said "You play like a _bass_ player!" :I do? I should check out bass and see what it's like!" She found her axe. Simply one of the best jazz/rock fusion bass players alive. I'll happily listen to anything she plays on.

Jazz composers start out by saying lets see how boring we can possibly make this particular piece of music and then let us allow gifted humans to shine. The boredom ends up overwhelming the gift. My son is a multi instrumentalist jazz producer and performer and will never make a dollar in his "calling". I desperately attempted to teach him carpentry and he has always told me to fuck off. If someone posts a music performance, at a MINIMUM, one should identify WHO is playing and WHERE it occurred. - Pretty minimal expectation, yet mb1065 did not. Bad move Tal and Vinnie were identified, and one can assume (should not have to assume) it is Dweezil on guitar. But 1) Who is the sax player, 2) Who if on the keyboards, 3) Where was this played (USA, Australia, Mars?)
@mb10652 жыл бұрын
So sorry Gregory for not meeting your expectations. I really tried when I posted this 6 years to imagine what would Gregory Parrott want to see on this post. But as you so kindly pointed out I failed miserably. If you don't know who Dweezil is then I can't help you. This was LA. But who cares? Sheila Gonzalez on Sax. She's been with him for years. If you don't know that, then that's your problem. Chris Norton on keyboards. You know him? This video post was not intended for dummies to criticize but for Zappa fans to enjoy. Now go insult someone else as you seem to enjoy doing that.

@@mb1065 You COMPLETELY missed the point. 1) It is a minimal courtesy TO THE BAND MEMBERS to give credit where credit is due. 2) The person posting may INDEED know more about the band than the (potentially) billions of viewers on KZbin. Yes, that includes me. 3) The publishers notes provide an EASY way for the publisher to provide this info, to the benefit of a large majority of viewers who may appreciate just a little info. 4) You 'can't help me'?. Actually, you can and did - Thanks. It's just a matter of personal choice to encourage viewers to appreciate music that may be new to them.
