Nice men, great conclusions, I was struggling with this a lot since tbc classic was released, but now I’m convinced that 315 hit rating is the magic number, and always have at least 1 gear to swap in the bag with more AP and no hit rating, if there is a good balance Druid in my dungeon group. It's recommended by some that you should not rely on food for hit. Even though it's SLIGHTLY less optimal dps, you won't ever find yourself entering a boss and losing a ton of DPS because you let your food drop. It's thus much safer to have hit on gems and use food for Agi.

@@niemand262 I feel like the hit buff is significantly more optimal, because it automatically lowers your hit for trash when its not needed, and gets you to (or close to) the cap for bosses. As long as you can remember to eat before boss pulls, it seems like the way to go.

Bravo, I applaud you Sir! If you recall this is exactly what we had been talking about a couple months ago on your "Hit gem" video where I was urging you to consider 300 hit over 270. I am very pleased to see that your mentality shifted towards heavier hit cap focus. Also, I think you did a much better job at explaining the reasoning than I did in my comment back then. Even though I am still adamant about the 300 mark due to my min/max background, I completely agree with you that MOST rogues should aim for 316 precisely for the reasons you stated. More importantly because most rogues wont have the liberty to freely swap pieces between encounters like I had. Keep up the good work mate!

Its just an expertise boost, youll get more expertise as it goes on but theres also no reason you should be in front of the bosses. The people rocking them are also doing stacking strats for cleaves etc. Do you wanna give up 2 set t4 for exp? Lol

@@nicholasabraham259 as of right now its not as important as hit because hit will factor into our combat potency. My advice is dont worry too much about it rn, the other classes dont get the inate boost we get too from talents in combat tree hence why it has higher value for them.

Precision would take you to 25% hit, but keep in mind that of you are looking at your characters hit rating, precision does not show up there.

I think I’m a little confused with hit rating. When you hover over your hit rating, it says something like “INCREASES your chance to hit by”. Is this the same percentage that you refer to, or are you referring to TOTAL hit rating? Or is this the same thing? I’m at about 220 or so hit rating right now (sorry, not at my computer) and looking to do heroics. Do I need more hit? Love the videos! Great info!

As you get more gear you were hit rating will increase. Eventually you want more than 220, shooting for 270 or 315 depending on the content.

Was wondering if you would be willing to make a gold guide for rogues in tbc? i.e. i pickpocket every mob in dungeons if I can, as I can get gems from both the pickpocket and the junk boxes they drop. Is there any consistent way to make money though? I was considering stealth mining instances, but that gets a little iffy. Thanks!

BiS is BiS. If it doesn't give you 316 hit, it's still BiS. Dont worry so much about P1 bis. Its obsolete in P2. And so on and so forth until SWP. Save for a few particular pieces.

Good rule of thumb is to be around 280-320 hit always. Dont gun for exactly 316.

To activate your meta gem you use 2 Shifting Shadow Draenite/Nightseye. They are purple gems, count as 1 blue 1 red each. Then you gem hit, yes.

So my group has a boomie so I have Faerie Fire. I am doing Improved expose armor. I current have 20% hit PLUS my 5% from Precision putting me at 25%. for maxing out boss damage, would I want 15% plus precision or 20% plus precison?

Warriors only get 3% hit from talents, and they benefit much less from Hit. As a war you don't have to really worry much about the hard cap for hip because you shouldn't ever reach it. They still definitely want all of their abilities to hit though

5%, but some classes have talents that can increase your chance to miss. You can cancel that out with more hit though. 7% can help cover most situations.

Hey, you didn't analyze the PvP situation, did yuo? I mean taking consideration of different talent's that reduce the chance to hit, Rogue has one and Druid has one if I remember correctly. Therefore we would need 9% hit rating to bypass all of these talents am I correct? I think from PvP perspective hit rating is also the most valuable stat, you don't want to miss your cheapshot, kidney or blind, do you?

hey idk if you still care to know, but i finally broke 316 hit and here's how i did it. hit is on every non-trinket piece for the most part except my off-hand. i have all hit gems in my helm/legs/gloves (not even all +8), +16 hit enchant in helm, and also food gives +20 hit for raid (without it im 301). Also, wastewalker 2 piece is +35 hit and is BiS.

You're not going to hit the hit cap while leveling, so you don't have to worry about it. If you are curious though, this video assumes you're 70 and shows you hit values relative to enemies one, two and three levels above you. These values would be the same regardless of your level.
