Kind of exactly like a snail, Octopi basically had their shell un evolved, but the main parts of the inside of a snail shell, is basically that of a mantle of an octopus. Snails and Octopi both poop through their mantle.

I did a paper on octopi in like 3rd grade and their awesome. The fact that the mother spends the rest of her life protecting her young is just kind of boggling. When my buddy was the manager at the Seaside aquarium in Oregon he told me to go ahead and touch the arm of the giant octopus and said it's pretty friendly but when I did it's arm reached up and grabbed a hold of my arm which freaked me the hell out.
