These are great Easter Eggs and I never noticed them! However one Easter Egg that I DID notice was a really deep-cut one. At the Flight Control Platform, the two Rito who run the minigame are named Obli and Willi. Based on the Nintendo Gallery descriptions of those two, it turns out they're not actually Rito. They're humans dressed up in Rito costumes since they love the idea of flying so much. You can tell since they don't actually have beaks and look like they're wearing giant fake noses. Anyways, I'm 99% sure this is a reference to the two gentlemen who built and flew the world's first motor-operated airplane: Orville and Wilbur Wright. Obli even has a gigantic moustache just like Orville did.

Gulliver referencing Zelda actually makes sense, and in more ways than one. For starters, him referencing Link's Awakening specifically is obviously because he's a seagull. The second, and more significant reason (at least in my opinion) is the fact that Gulliver was referenced by the Mailman back in Phantom Hourglass, where he would say "So...I'd appreciate it if you didn't, ya know, shoot me with a slingshot." This references how you would get Gulliver to wash up on the beach in several past Animal Crossing games, by shooting his UFO with a slingshot as it flew overhead.
@uros24044 жыл бұрын

There's a bit of an obscure reference not mentioned here that I don't see many people talk about, namely that Ganondorf's twin swords actually read "Kotake Koume" in Hylian, which of course references his adopted mothers. But that's not all, there is a bit more to it than that. This next thing is something I've actually never seen anyone else document, so here goes: See, in the original GC version of Wind Waker, "Ganondorf's swords read Kotake Koume" was only true for the Japanese and Korean versions of the game. For some reason, the American and European versions had altered Hylian text on Ganondorf's swords, which now read "honmono", which is Japanese for "real thing". But it doesn't end there, in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the trophy of Wind Waker Ganondorf had different text on his swords YET AGAIN, with them now reading "Zubora Gabora", just like Phantom Ganon's sword. Finally, in Wind Waker HD, the swords now read "Kotake Koume" in all language versions, although the look of the symbols has been altered slightly, with two letters being flipped. It's very confusing why they kept on changing this text so much, but the best guess I can make is actually pretty funny. I believe the text was altered because the Hylian spelling of "Kotake Koume" in the Japanese GC version accidentally happened to resemble the f-word, of all things. This can be seen somewhat noticeably in-game during the scene in which Ganondorf points his sword at Link at Forsaken Fortress. I'm guessing someone caught this during localization and it had to be changed hastily, leading to the non-sequitur "real thing" replacement. And then, by the time Wind Waker HD rolled around, they found a way to fix the issue while keeping the emotional connection of the reference in tact. Also if you can't find Japanese footage of that scene where Ganondorf points the sword at Link but still want to see what it looks like, here is a picture of it: pbs.twimg.com/media/DwA4zuWW0AEQ9pE?format=png&name=small

Do you ever wonder if the LoZ devs giggle to themselves in production, thinking: "Oh boy, those Zelda Theory nerds are going to have a field day with this"? Also 6:16. Blue Milk? Obviously a Star Wars reference in a game series that never did that before!!
@Mech6104 жыл бұрын
Maybe 'Lon Lon Milk' became so ubiquitous with the beverage in old Hyrule that the name survived as the catch-all term for it, even if it's not produced at Lon Lon Ranch. The way people call all tissue 'Kleenex' or all soda 'Coke'. The names 'Deku Nut' and 'Zora' could have survived as names for other, similar things, too.

For April Fools, you should make a video called “Zelda References & Easter Eggs in The Legend of Zelda” (Zelda 1) and just have it be the intro, then outro. Brand New Theory Idea: No one seems to have any definite idea who the ancient Zonai race were in Breath of the Wild--in spite of the many theories suggesting they were Twili, the Interlopers, Skyloftians, etc. BUT, I've come across a reference in another game that is almost indisputably referring to this group. In Four Swords Adventures, the Desert of Doubt region is home to the Gerudos, but also another group: THE ZUNA TRIBE. There's no doubt in my mind that the name "Zonai" is derived from "Zuna" in Four Swords Adventures. Too many other closely named parallels in Breath of the Wild already exist (Rudania/Darunia; Nabooris/Nabooru; Mekar/Makar; etc.) for this to be a coincidence. The Zuna in Four Swords Adventures are a race of Middle Eastern-like, green-skinned beings who were known for having built ancient pyramids and other structures found in that game. While there does not seem to be a ton of detailed information about their history in this game, it is by far the most direct reference I've seen anywhere in Zelda to the Zonai in Breath of the Wild. (See zelda.gamepedia.com/Zuna) A theory on this could explore questions like: Why did the Zuna/Zonai build these pyramids? Could they still be connected to some of the other theorized groups like the Interlopers/Ancient Ones? What implications might their familiarity with the Ganondorf of Four Swords Adventures have for the alleged Zonai runes present in the Breath of the Wild 2 trailer, and for the sequel as a whole?

My favorite easter egg in Wind Waker is that in the original, the Octorok figurine says that they're the winners of the perfect attendance award. Which is a reference to the fact that at that point they'd appeared in every single Zelda game. Since this wasn't actually true anymore come the HD remake (Twilight Princess didn't use them, but did have a similar enemy) it was changed to 'Exemplary enemy' in WWHD.

while not a reference to another Zelda title, I'd also like to point out that the Goddess statues also reference the Red, Blue, and Yellow Pikmin- their GameCube sibling

About the menu on Windfall Island: Maybe they either have a little stack of everything in the back of everything on the menu (that the Goron's bring in) or they don't have anything and they have put it on the menu to look interesting. The reason I think this because the prices are really high for these products (150 or 250 rupees is a lot of money). Or the prices are adjusted for inflation since OoT or MM ;-)

As anyone noticed that the three goddess statues from WW are the three classic pikmin? The "red" one has a nose, like a fire Pikmin, "blue" one has a mouth like water Pikmin and the "yellow" one has ears, just like electric pikmin.
@Btron4ever4 жыл бұрын
Theres also the reference to Pikmin in the game in the form of the statues that you place the pearls into. Din's statue being Red Pikmin sharing the nose, Nayru's statue being blue Pikmin sharing the mouth/gills, and Farore's statue being yellow Pikmin sharing the ears. Never realized that until just now...

another other cool easter egg in the Gallery is how the Octorock Statue got new text in the HD version. In the Original, their description read that they had said that they were the "winner of the perfect attendance award", since they had been in every game up to that point. However, in the HD version, they were instead the "exemplary enemy" since they weren't present in Twilight Princess.

I just wanted to tell you about a localisation oddity: the rito have always been called "orni" in the German versions of the games they've appeared in. To my knowledge, this word has no particular meaning. What's strange is that other names haven't changed, just adjusted to fit in grammatically; Gorons are called "Goronen", Hylians are "Hylianer", Zoras are still "Zoras", the Geruro are still "gerudo", etc. I don't know why they decided to rename the rito.
@Onisasu4 жыл бұрын
Ohh that's so interesting! I wonder maybe orni is related to ornithology, the study of birds. Same root for the words for 'bird'? ^_^

I just wonder how the trick of repairing the sign with the Ocarina in the N64 had been originally found. That person must have been like: "Yeah, let's just see what happens if I play Zelda's Lullaby next to this broken sign."
