Oh my firiend! I would weigh myself with out any clothing, after my morning BM and not hold the phone for starters. Also when I had Covid last year my provider told me to not take my shot that week. I also retained water and the scale showed up wonky for a week and then it was back to normal because it wasn’t real pounds! I love your attitude however, inspiring as always! 🫶

As for the phone, I actually deducted 1/2lb for that otherwise it’d be a 4lb gain. 😂 But you’re right about the clothes. I normally weigh myself in these clothes right before working out, but I also do weigh myself w/o clothes. It does make a difference! As for being sick and water retention, who knew! But you’re right, I weighed myself the next day and was down 2lbs!! I’m glad my binging didn’t do too much damage this time! lol 😂

Jill, I’m actually working with a therapist about my “all or nothing” mentality. When we don’t feel good or are stressed, our resistance is low, so it’s understandable that you fell into old ways. I feel like it’s a muscle that you’ll have to continue to strengthen. I bet the next time a similar stress comes along you will be able to do better. I recently had some serious food noise. I resisted it, but I didn’t quite realize what it was until much later. Now I feel like next time I’ll do better to recognize it and battle that ogre! My therapist and I came up with some ideas for distracting myself… a puzzle, a walk, a cup of herbal tea, calling a friend, reading one of my motivational books, etc. I’ve heard people talk about “parenting yourself.” Talk to yourself like you would talk to one of your children. I highly recommend reading the book Atomic Habits, too. Your 75 post-it notes fit well into his program. 😉 I agree with the others… a live would be fun. It might be hard for you to keep up with the comments while trying on clothes, but you won’t know unless you try. 😘

Isn’t it great being a woman! lol As for Atomic Habits, I’ve had that book on my list for a long time. I was thiiiiis close to starting it a few months back and read The Mountain Is You instead. But I’ll get around to it!! 😂 And the tip about parenting yourself is genius. I totally wouldn’t allow myself to get away with half the stuff I do, if I did that! 🙈 Trying not to freak out about the live and just roll with it. 😅

Jill….. don’t be too hard on yourself about gaining some weight! Truly that can be gone in a matter of minutes just by going to the bathroom, lol! You were sick your whole family was sick and you were trying to care for eight sick people. You definitely deserve tons and tons of grace, who cares what you eat when you’re sick you’ve got to take care of yourself and if that means eating a half gallon of ice cream at least you got some good protein!!!!!! Don’t beat yourself up! Taking care of sick people is hard taking care of sick people when you are sick is totally miserable !!!!!!!! I think a live would be super fun… I am off work on Friday so will be looking forward to hanging out with you !!!!

If a pound is 3500 calories, 3 1/2 pounds would be 12,250 calories. I highly doubt you ate that many calories. I think it’s actually a fluctuation. Life happens. Please give yourself some grace.

You’re right, it was definitely at least partly water retention because the day after I recorded this video, I lost 2 lbs. Guess I sounded the alarm prematurely. 😬 It was definitely driven by guilty conscience. 🙈😅

Well if you've been sick, it's probably water retention of you drunk, or just inflammation internally or bowel build up, it always happen to me right after I've recovered. Give it a few days and check your weight then you'll see a loss ❤

Yes you were right! The day after I recorded this video, I lost 2lbs. I didn’t know getting sick causes you to retain water but I guess that makes sense. I was definitely still binging though, so I do need to keep an eye on that. But very glad the weight gain wasn’t all from my binging. Thanks for the encouragement and watching!! Give yourself some grace. ❤ it will be gone soon. I went up 8 pounds in two days. My adult sons are afraid I’m becoming scale obsessed. I knew mine wasn’t from eating… my lower and upper legs swelled up from my pulmonary hypertension and my belly hard as a rock from not going in a few days. I’m glad you are all feeling better! You’ve got this and you’re doing great! ❤

I sure hope you’re feeling better now, that sounds very uncomfortable. And I can relate to being obsessed with the scale. I weigh myself everyday, multiple times a day even. I know for some people that’s triggering, but it doesn’t cause anxiety for me so I’ll keep doing it! Lol 😂

Beautiful fall backdrop 😍 hang in there, give yourself tons of grace. I really think our bodies are letting us know what we need during these times. Walking has become huge for helping lower my stress but food is still a big thing for me when stressed….I think it’s a female thing as well, like we get hungrier during various times in our cycles as well. I think we do need more nourishment actually, I have switched what I’m eating during those times though, instead of pasta, breads, sugary treats etc I trained myself to stay away from all that and go for something with more nutrients and higher fat content (butter, avocado, coconut or olive oil.)

That’s a really smart way of going about it. Less carbs, more healthy fats. I actually think you’re right about women needing more energy at times. Our bodies are more complex than men. A lot more moving parts so to speak. I actually ate my ramen with avocado which is something I’ve never done. I think my body instinctively knew it needed more nourishment than just ramen. 🍜 😂

So glad to catch up! Love the redirection you are taking. When we are recovering from an illness our bodies works by doing whatever necessary to keep us alive. It did its job! Those thoughts definitely are creeps lol by creeping in. I had to remind myself that I can eat whatever I want, I’m choosing to make better choices because I feel better physically and emotionally when I do. I have to tell the little girl in me that there will be more chances to enjoy these things and I’ll be okay without them. For me it was a fear of not ever having it again and when I reassured myself that it wasn’t. The inner me calmed down. 😊

Hi Jill! Aren't you glad we are not where we used to be?!!!! I keep reading your words and it has helped me so much! Moving forward when we have set-backs or plateaus are tough, but we've got some good tools to use that we didn't have before (and a great weight-loss community that supports each other). We have some good self-talk to use on ourselves too. Just remember we aren't quitters! We're losers!!!! And we won't quit until we finish losing!!! 😂🤣😂. Whatever you want to do on the unwrapping video is great with me. I look forward to whatever you decide so don't pressure yourself into anxiety and it is not fun for you. If I still have internet, I am planning to be on tonight. Remember, it is just your girlfriends & we always love to see what our friends get when shopping. Nice video Jill! I’m really sorry to hear that you and your family were sick this week! 😢That’s OK that you gained a little weight this week. Completely understandable, relatable. Yes we completely change when we’re taking this medication. We learn how to eat better even though we always knew how to do it. We just didn’t do it all the time. We always knew how to exercise. I used to work out five days a week really hard. Then I stopped, life just got the best of me. It happens. Yes we’re changing our old habits to better habits. We’re still the same person though. That fact will never change. Nobody wants to be over weight or obese. So many people just give up. At least we’re doing something about it now! This doesn’t come easy, it doesn’t happen overnight. Nobody has the perfect journey. If anybody says they’re losing weight all the time, you know what? They are full of 💩!!! Besides, I read a lot about this medication. I read that the closer you get to reaching your goal weight the harder it becomes. I’m pretty certain that you’re getting close to your goal weight. I already know that you’re a fighter. So am I. I was born & raised in Newark, New Jersey. You can’t survive unless you’re a fighter both physically and mentally! Lol If it takes me a year to get to my goal weight. By God, I’m gonna there! You will too! 💪🏼✌💙
