Awesome job! i plan on adding a $ inch bar light on my 10 x the same way as you installed yours just below the handle bars using an external battery source. i plan on using a battery that comes off remote control cars Traxxis batteries for example so i does not drain my main scooter battery. i'm working on a different bracket and gathering the parts now. i'll keep in touch on how my build goes. i also plan to add the new TFT LCD from the zero 10 x limited version as well. keep me posted! thank you, Tightlines1

Great work! I just went with a powerful handlebar light as the Dualtrons have all that fancy side LED lighting already. I think the flashing lights you added are great. Maximum visibility is a great thing to have at night. That new light you added is like a mini sun out there...perfect! I was going to get an 8X but went with a Kaabo Mantis instead. 4 flats in 300 miles later I decided to get a Dualtron Compact. I was going to get an 8X after the last flat on the Mantis but then test rode all the Dualtrons. Once I rode the Raptor 2 and Compact I knew I wanted to go that route with a solid tire commuter. I have ridden the 10X and 8X in San Francisco and they are great scooters. I just love the build quality and power of the Compact. The Compact already saved me getting stranded again yesterday when a 3 inch dry wall screw decided to embed itself into the rear tire. The Mantis would have been shredded. I just pulled out the screw in the Compact and kept on going at 40MPH. The 8X would have just kept going as well. I think people just don't understand the benefits of solid tires until they put some serious miles on their scooters. You put the suspension the 8X has with solid tires and it is still a relatively comfortable ride.

Robert Fontanosa it’s funny you say that about the nail.....I have another video I posted where that EXACT. SAME. THING. happened! I couldn’t believe it. For me I had to finish the ride.....which was still 10 miles to home. So by the time I got home it was really embedded in there. But after I pulled it out....like new again! But that’s the exact reason I got the 8X. It might make a little more noise over bumps but to not have to change tubes is what I needed. I couldn’t handle getting them like every other ride. Granted they were much smaller tires on one of my last ones but still....it’s a PAIN! I’ve watched some videos on the Mantis....and that thing is INSANE!! What a rush I bet it is though!
@RCDevotee
@RCDevotee 4 жыл бұрын
@@ADayintheLifeofMr23 I am with you! Looking forward to seeing your nail video! It is an amazing feeling to just pull out this huge nail out of your tire and just keep going. I always carry my Leatherman Skeletool with me and it has come in handy so many times. I would not have been able to pull this thing out with my hands as it was buried into the tire. I could have probably just kept riding like you and just live with that clickity-clack until I got to my destination. It is a tank! The Mantis is such a great ride. It is incredibly plush but in control at speed. I can corner much better on it and it takes jumps much better than a solid tire scooter. However, it is not fun pushing or carrying that beast around when its rear tire has gone flat even with Slime installed each time. Tubed tires are just not great even with sealant. The pinch flats are hard to avoid at 40MPH even with high tire pressure and road hazards are just unavoidable in an urban environment. I have had two pinch flats and two road hazard flats in 300 miles of riding. I was considering getting a tubeless tire power scooter like the Speedway Mini V but any flat sucks. However, patching the tubeless can be done in the field much easier but not everything is patchable. I have also had trouble finding the exact area to patch from time to time. The Compact also uses dual drum brakes and it stops just as well as my Mantis with disc brakes. I have had to replace rotors or have to bend them back straight quite a few times on other vehicles. Drum brakes are still a very viable braking option if you adjust them properly and know how to apply pressure appropriately between the front and back. The Compact is built like a tank and should be as maintenance free as it gets. More importantly it is hard to see anything really taking it out during any normal ride. I can just enjoy the ride and not worry about getting a flat or getting a bent rotor.

Robert Fontanosa I think one of that last major upgrades I’m doing to the 8x is the brakes. They have a hydraulic kit for the ZERO line that I want to do. The only thing I’m not looking forward to about it is running the new brake cables through the main down tube. I feel like when I can get the 8X up to 33mph that’s flying....I can only imagine at 40+. So fun!!!
@RCDevotee
@RCDevotee 4 жыл бұрын
@@ADayintheLifeofMr23 Hydraulics are always sweet. I have seen a few 10X's blasting around San Francisco. I am sure they were in the high 30's or even 40. I can only really open up the scooters on my second half of my commute that has expressways where the cars are also doing at least 45 but are likely closer to 60. I pretty much just have the scooter at full throttle the whole time for miles.

Trust me, you will never appease the light n azis out there. I ride with bright lights because it provides me with safety riding and if some soyboy is fine with a 100 lumen light thats their perogative. The bottom line is bright lights are now affordable and common to the point where you need an equally bright light to see. If you are going 50kph you need enough light to not run out of., Im tempted to get one of those ridiculous 30k lumen flashlights just as a fuck off to light nazis.

Bro sorry to spam you on the questions but I also have been preparing my kits for day to day and have most things bought and you have inspired me on early modifications needed for my 8x.... But how do you find the ease of cargo? I mean the scooter frame itself doesn't offer much in the way of baskets etc, and a back pack can only do so much for a trip to the shops but do you have any insight or products you have come across for this?? My partner has a car but mine was totalled in a hail storm so I'm going for the escooter lifestyle now to save more money and I just want to be independent where I can be if it means I gotta just go once a week with the car then fine but I've been googling for attachments, annoyingly getting a lot of scooter options for mobility scooters, not for street ones.

ruukusanla no worries at all! I usually just wear a backpack. They do make scooter bags that hang off the front but they aren’t that big. Thankfully I don’t need to take that much stuff to work. I keep the tool for my stem clamp in the battery bag and a multi tool in my backpack just in case. That really sucks about your car tho. When the weather is nice I commute every day on it!

While filming for another video I discovered a module inside that regulates 12v. So the strip lights are just 12v LEDs so in theory you can just splice in a different strip that is the colors you want.

Gerardo Arius 😂 I’m gonna need to sooner than later. The tread on the stock tires already isn’t the greatest. And by now I’ve pretty much worn through that. I have found that when I’m out on longer rides the solid tires do get a little stickier and I don’t notice the slipping around big corners at high speeds as much. But I think just the peace of mind with new tread will be huge for me. But believe when I do change them I will post for you guys!

@ADayintheLifeofMr23
@ADayintheLifeofMr23 3 жыл бұрын
T Mr hello! Yes, there is a way to run it directly. In a different video I opened up the deck and found there to be a 12v regulator that powers the stock LED, head lights and tail lights/brake lights. I didn’t check it’s output but in theory you could tap into it there and not need the battery. Thanks!
@ADayintheLifeofMr23
@ADayintheLifeofMr23 3 жыл бұрын
Hello. Thanks for the message. In one of my videos I opened up the deck and there is an actual 12v regulator inside the scooter which I assume is for the LED lights on the scooter. I believe if you were to wire up directly to the regulator inside the scooter that would work. But I’m not 100% since I haven’t tested it. The usb on the LCD I would use to charge my phone only. Thanks again for the comment!

Is it possible to change zero 8x tires to 10 inches pneumatic tires?
@ADayintheLifeofMr23
@ADayintheLifeofMr23 4 жыл бұрын
Sam repato I don’t think with the current suspension arms you could change the tires to 10” tires. Perhaps if you removed the splash guard but as it is now with the splash guard on there is minimal space. However, if you don’t have an 8x already and are in the market for a scooter...The 10x isn’t really that much more money at all. The 10x has 10” pneumatic tires. Thanks for the comment! ✌🏼

Why didn't you just use a Y cable and connect the 12v drop down to the main battery and then run all the cables from the 12v drop down converter...
@ADayintheLifeofMr23
@ADayintheLifeofMr23 4 жыл бұрын
Mostly because I’m pretty novice when it comes to this type of stuff and didn’t want to tap into any of the main battery wires. In another video where I opened the main deck there already is a 12v converter for the decks LEDs anyways so if I would have done that first I would have seen the converter and just used that....but I didn’t.
