what is your opinion on tinting the windshield? half the tint shops say they won't do it because the glass can break being its laminate and when the windshield gets hot from sitting in the sun here in florida, it can or will pop it..... what do you think?
@ADayintheLifeofMr23
@ADayintheLifeofMr23 6 күн бұрын
To be honest, I think those are excuses for 1 of 2 things. They don’t have the skill or confidence to do it or they’re too cheap to order a 60” roll of film required to tint the glass. The angle of the windshield is not really any different than any other windshield so it isn’t completely horizontal facing the sun. Now days a lot of glass is laminated so I’m not buying that excuse either. The film we use is Llumar and has one of the highest heat reductions on the market. We’re in Northern California and summers we see multiple weeks over 100+ degrees. Sometimes over 110. I guess my question to them would be, what’s the difference on doing a back window on a model 3 then? Most people do dark shades on the back windows which have a higher heat absorption than what would be installed on a front windshield so why is the back window ok but not the windshield?

@laurencel.7980 also, giving them the benefit of the doubt….I don’t want to be out here bashing other tint shops….to some shops the risk might not be worth the reward. The amount of time it takes to do one of those windshields, depending on the skill of the tinters, they could possibly tint 1-2 additional cars. So from a profits standpoint it might not make as much sense to them to do it. Especially because they may only get a handful of those per year so spending time and resources on such a rare thing they might not see as benefitting them. So rather than them just saying “no” they take the route of making an excuse to sorta save face. With that being said….Llumar is very good at communicating known issues to us and all the shops that use their film to make us aware of potential issues like glass breakage or things like that. So far as of now there have been no warnings issued about the possibility of the windshield cracking due to tint being installed. You could always take a road trip out to Norther California. We’d be happy to tint it for you. 😂

What size box of film did you have to use? 72" or does a 60" cover the visible section of the glass?
@ADayintheLifeofMr23
@ADayintheLifeofMr23 12 күн бұрын
We used a 60” for it. It is slightly larger top to bottom than it is side to side. So it has to roll out side to side for a 60”. That’s why we had to rotate the film in the video after we rolled it out.

I did a range test with both motors and gear 3. Top speed of 33-34mph and was able to get about 18 miles….so I think it would be safe to assume using less than half the power of the scooter would get you at least double that range if not more, especially if you’re getting the 24ah battery

Hello! Nothing major has happened. The bike has been very reliable for me. The freewheel on the rear wheel likely isn’t the highest quality and the cranks aren’t the greatest either, but they absolutely get the job done. The cranks make a little knocking noise and the freewheel just sounds like the bearings aren’t very lubricated. Both easy and relatively inexpensive upgrades as well. But overall I still recommend this bike. Thanks for watching.
