I tried the Fastcap ZCI version but it sat proud of the table and had a tendency to peel up. I changed to the Colliflower insert severall years ago and am very happy with it. It is always nice to have options. Steve

That's fantastic. I have the kapex 120 and so get quite a bit of debris in between or under the plastic strip. I bought an 80 tooth blade and the 60 tooth blade has gone walking. I'm not sure when it went. Using your small drill I certainly miss mine as it is handy for delicate operations. I have not yet replaced all my Festool's which found their way to unauthorised new ownership. I somehow delay buying cheaper tools as I often return to purchasing new festool upon looking for replacement tools. I'm pleased because I was going to give my chorded plunge saw to my brother when I bought the 36 volt cordless plunge saw. I now put a 36 volt cordless 1.8mm kerf plunge saw and wish to purchase the high output 4 amp hour batteries. I had bought a 6.2 amp hour battery so need an extra battery. I was going to buy another 6.2 amp hour battery although since they are real pricey now it makes more sense to get high density battery 4 amp hour. Hense in saying that using a 6.2 amp hour with a high density or bigger cell technology 4 amp hour batteries is there any difference in power on how the electronics communicate or can tell the type of battery inserted?
@sedgetool2 жыл бұрын
I would stay with the 6.2 amp hour batteries on the tracksaw

Also look into FastCap's zero clearance tape. A nice way to get a replaceable or temporary cover for your table or miter saw slot.

Philip Jones. I really like comments like yours. If I can find money to buy a new kapex. The smaller kapex is a lot more pricey than the larger blade kapex by around $1,000 au. I bought my kapex for around $1,600 and the smaller kapex is about $2,500. Where I buy my tools I can pay off and put on laybuy. To me this suits me fine as I don't fork out a large sum at once. Yeah I know I can stash money away until I have the right amount. Seems every day loving you use the money at your disposal. The way I purchase works fine for me. I stop at the shop on the weekend and give them a little money at a time until I take the tool home with me.

My apologies if this has been asked over the years of Festool Live, but how many times can you professionally sharpen a standard Kapex Blade (495388)? Can't find specs for the amount of carbide in the teeth or the sharpening recommendation. Love your videos here and on Live's on Friday's!!
@sedgetool2 жыл бұрын
There is no spec or tech on sharpening a Kapex blade ....but I know a few folks who have done about 2 -3 sharpenings on there blades.......It all depends on how good the sharpening service is ....

I really want to purchase one of these kapex 120 , but I keep coming across reviews of it failing just out of warranty, usually the switch . It’s a shame as it’s making think twice now. Then I come across a recall 🤦
@sedgetool2 жыл бұрын
there has never been a recall on the Kapex........
@lockstocky28002 жыл бұрын
@@sedgetoolthat’s very odd ! From my research I think you you will find there was a safety recall on the kapex 88 and the 120 purchased between 2007 and 2010 , there was a issue with it setting on fire when in use and when not in use but plugged in. I really like this saw, and really want one to go with my other Festool gear, I just keep finding issues with the trigger breaking , and the 45 degree presets not making a perfect right angle. I’m hoping it’s just the odd saw that’s slipped through the quality control, or operator error . Only thing that’s worrying is the people reporting this are professionals with joinery shops . ???
