Way to go man! So cool to watch a honest and transparent try at an iron man from 0 experience. Subscribed right away! Go for it! I'm from the Netherlands and training for my first marathon, secretly dreaming of completing an Ironman one day..

You can do it! I'm in my mid-40s and did my first Olympic and half Iron distances last year. Unsolicited advice: Get a swim coach if you can, or at least start watching lots of Effortless Swimming (channel) and learn from them. Use a pull buoy to help you focus on breathing and your stroke. Focus on exhaling lots and inhaling just a little (I'm a gasper! lol). Schedule some open water swimming (ideally with others around you) so you can get used to that--it's MUCH DIFFERENT than pool swimming. And do at least an Olympic distance before the full. A half would be wise, too, if you can squeeze it in. I did mine with a Trek similar like yours (Domane carbon version), so it's definitely doable. Lots of time on a Wahoo trainer with Zwift was priceless (and reduced needing to worry about traffic). Feel free to shoot me a message if you want to chat about first-timer experience. I don't know it all but learned a ton last year.

Thank you!! The open water is definitely what I need to practice on in the near future. Scares me 😂. But we will get it done for sure.

I love your journey .thank you for sharing your experience . I will do a full Ironman on April. I started from zero last summer . I am worried for the swim section but I hired a swimming coach . Training between10-15 hours per week is hard but worth it. You Sr are an inspiration.

Don’t get discouraged in the pool. I was amazed how quickly I built up the swim endurance.

@gregjc, I'm training for an Olympic in June. I can do the 1500m under the 55 minute cut off time, but I have to take so many breaks, any advice?? Do I just keep doing sessions of 1500m under 55 mins, or do I also do easy sessions to build up endurance??

I follow you on IG and I really enjoy your pictures as a model then everything you accomplished is inspiring because you been done different things like firefighter or paramedic or fighter Martial arts . You could easily do an OF and make a lot of money but you preferred a different road to make money and make yourself feel good. You will do a lot of more good things and as your fan I am proud of you. You are not just a gorgeous man but strong and intelligent. Keep going. And please post more often on here on KZbin.

Amazing video! It's so great that you share your love for water. Swimming is such an amazing sport and it's lovely to see you enjoy it, keep going with these great videos. If it doesn't bother you, I'd like to give you a suggestion, a tip for the next videos: Basically, you could try inserting some comic and funny stuff... to give everyone a pinch of humor that, in the world of swimming, can never be missing. Now, I don't think much of it, but the first thing I could think of in your sport might be peeing in the water. Once, my uncle, who is a scuba diver, peed in his wetsuit during a long diving session and that moment was absolutely funny, he even wrote "I’m peeing" on a waterproof notebook during the session. He has always been telling me that there are 2 types of divers and swimmers: those who pee in the water and those who lie. I know it may sound strange as a request but, in my opinion, these are moments of happiness and carefree that always make everyone smile. I hope you like the idea and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Great video! But if you don't have one already I'd highly recommend hiring a coach. I dont know what your base/background is but an ironman in 6 months is a lofty goal. If you 'waste' time on training inefficiently for the first 2/3 months you basically won't have any time left to properly train. You'll need to learn fuelling during training, learn to be efficient in 3 different sports and probably build an aerobic base as well. It's definitely possible, especially if you're just aiming to finish, look at average rob/arno the kid for example. but they had professional coaching and lactate testing etc. Anyways, looking forward to future videos and good luck!

That’s great advice! Do you think training peaks is efficient enough? I’ve heard great things about a coach program on there. Thank you!
@seth6082 Жыл бұрын
@@williamjhou i'm not too familiar with trainingpeaks but i think itd be a great option yeah. especially if you get some 1 on 1 coaching and the ability to ask them questions. The structure of a training plan is just nice all around
