No, thats not the point of his death in the first place. The main reason he orchestrated his death in the archon quest was mainly for the liyue harbor to accept the tiangquan management fully than just having it divided between him and tiangquan cause he believes the people of the liyue harbor can manage now without his sole guidance, hence why the finale was the combination of the strength of the tiangquan and the adeptus vs oasial. I believe throughout the years he wasn't even trying to hide himself from his fellow adeptus but instead trying to catch up with them.

Actually, everyone believed he died in the archon quest. Including Xiao and Cloud Retainer. It's just... Hard for someone not to recognise their Mentor, god and highly close friend for 500+ yrs the moment you see them. I myself can recognise my best friend of eyes just from his walking style alone. So... Even though "Zhongli died". Once one person got to know he is alive (Madam Ping) then everyone kinda sorta got to know. And it became an open secret. I'd bet Ganyu obviously knows, but maybe Yanfei may not (cause tho Yanfei is a disciple of Ping and Ganyu, she isn't as close to Morax as everyone else, also, Yanfei is a young adepti and lawyer sooo. Zhongli held a whole reunion buffet using Cloud Retainer's adeptal cooking machine in the last Lantern Rite with Mountain Shaper and Moon Carver on Mt. Hulao and also had dinner with Xiao and Venti along with other characters. Before that, Zhongli also met Madame Ping and Guoba during the Liyue cooking event. Xiao's voice line also implies that he's aware of Zhongli's retirement and that he's taken a new name.
