I think what he meant by "mature" is refined, like steel that's been hammered and folded by a blacksmith hundreds of times so that there's no impurities in it. That's how I can describe the Will Kennedy's Yellowjacket molded playing. No slight to the other drummers because they were all amazing, but he doesn't need to tear it up with gospel chops to grab you. He's got his own way of playing.

I guess im just 40... Cuuuuuz i dont know why this doesnt have as many view as many of the other zildjian sessions. This was so tasteful. Im a bassist but Will kennedy was 1 of the drummers more mature musicians would always talk about listening to and checking out when i was younger. Hes a real legend. And dont get it twisted, hes much older now but back in his earlier days he was givin EVERYBODY the bizness! He was 1 of the top 3 or four King of odd meters!! 🔥🔥🔥

i remember the first time i heard the yellow jackets with their track down town i was like "who is this drummer?", because it was some of the most tasteful and best sounding drumming i'd ever heard and so different from all those other drummers. it turned out to be will kennedy and immediately after i found out i went to see him perform live. a lot of times actually and he never disappointed. what a master on drums!

I was waiting for this video! I listened to the yellowjackets more than once a week. Especially, the 'Blue Hats' record with Will Kennedy is my favorite CD. Since Will joined the band again, it seems that drumming has changed a little, but I think there is a charm that I can only like to play with unique and organized performances. I'm always cheering in my heart.

AR, I did too! Years back at a Hollywood, Florida show with the Yellowjackets. I heard Will practicing backstage early in the day (way before showtime). I walked up the the venue outdoor stage, and he was off to the side behind a kit. He eventually came out and greeted us. I always loved the cymbals he used on the Yellowjackets recordings. He invited me and my student (who came with me to the show) backstage to see his kit/cymbals. They were Paiste "Signature Series" (at that time he was using Paiste).That was my major inspiration to eventually be endorsed by Paiste and, to use 'Signature Series", as well! Will is an awesome drummer & individual!............... Good Luck on all your drumming AR!
