It took me days but I watched the whole thing. My appreciation of the game has only gone up. I don't know how or why but this is spellbinding to watch. It's just made me appreciate that era of games that much more, and realize how lacking in the fundamentals are so many of today's 'AAA' games.

I need to play 2 again. Not played it seriously since 2003. The hype I had for this after playing the first in 2002. So for my birthday Jan 2003 I got an Xbox with JSRF and Shenmue II. Shenmue II was the first time and last time I played a game for 24 straight hours. I was wearing Kilo Axe (Lynx if from the UK) and so sometimes since then I will buy a Kilo axe and wear it just to give me nostalgia of those days and nights playing Shenmue and how satisfying it was to beat Master Baiu and Don. Then that peaceful period at the end and the shocking ending. 1 is my fave but 2 at that point in time of my life was a spectacle I had never seen and the true beginnings of me becoming bleeding Nintendo red to SEGA blue and now in 2016,I'm blue through and through. I'm Bluecast.

Exactly!! Deodorant smell brings back so many memories for me too. Lynx Africa reminds me of GTA San Andreas. Playing in the dark with a blanket over my 15 inch CRT, hoping not to get caught. 😂😂

Thanks to all those involved in the making of this! Took me a week to watch lol and got me wanting to play shenmue III which going to make wait all that more painful! I think a shorter version around 5 to 6 hours would be great. Or even if just some of the qte's were edited or time lapsed, crossing the wooden planks, running through forest, carrying crates etc

Both, actually! Demul is a fantastic emulator, but it takes a lot of horsepower and patience. My PC consists of an i7 2700k @ 4.6GHz and a GTX 980Ti @ 1375MHz.

I wish there was a fan fight user submission competition and best one's made the final cut. I know in reality implementing this maybe isn't all that realistic but I imagine we would have seen a wider range of Ryo's move pool. Not saying this as a complaint because I know how much effort you put into this Mr .357, more of a perfect dream scenario

I got all the scrolls in the game. I’m pretty sure I executed every move; the problem is, the game is fight mechanics weren’t great. Let’s be honest, but was one of the better parts of the game when it did happen and how about that mule kick?

Im watching this after years of always wanting to play it. i love the character design and graphics (especially on this upload!) Its perfect 90's Sega AM2 (probably AM3 really). Even the logo on the back of Ryo's Jacket amazes me; the Tiger. Strange that the first game starts in 1986, year of the Tiger in Chinese zodiac. And alot of this second game features Ren as a buddy who sports a Horse on his jacket, compatible with Tiger in Chinese zodiac. I remember SEGA mentioning they made shenmue because they wanted to make a Chinese style epic movie or something, and they certainly dived very deep! There is another full game playthrough of shenmue 2 that pops up more, as its more recent and a few hrs longer.... but its a bit weird seeing it on PC. What's worse is that the guy playing is terrible, leaving the mouse cursor in the middle of the screen during most cut scenes, and spams punch or kick during EVERY FIGHT!! Thats when i had to turn it off, luckily I found this video. Im super impressed by the level playing on this video, some top Notch fights!! I used to be an Akira Main back in my VF days, so im thankful to see the dedication to learning to use the moves and fighting fully technical! Thanks so much for this upload!!!

They look so silly running around the building together at 3:20:00 onwards. Also, I like how there's a sort of unspoken agreement between them not to use any weapons in a fight. Like how Ren has a knife on his hip, yet he keeps trying to hit Don with his leg fruitlessly.

Awesome! I watch the movie right now. 8 hours Shenmue-Movie. Perfect! ^^ Every Scene is epic. What Yu-san has developed is unreachable. He was the first with QTE's and another Game Studios copied that. Shenmue is a true videogame and not something else AAA-Game like CoD. This Movie brings the hype for Shenmue III. It makes me sad when people in commentaries and another forums said that Shenmue III will be flop, but perhaps they are much younger than me, i am around mid 30 and the others are maybe 15 years old, it's a new generation of gamers. Shenmue III will awesome. I fully trust to Yu and his developemt Team. :-)

Shenmue 3 just hit 7 millions funding milestone!! AI battling confirm! Surveys sending initial plan is summer 2017 and Shenmue 3 is now on Beta state! While no one stated offically it is on beta but it sounds like Alpha phase are finished on now. As on Trial/beta/demo in 2017 before full game has no any new updates yet or when they shutting down funding collection. I heard also Trailer is coming up soon and release day still believe to be end of 2017 so overall project seem to going well.

There's a version of the mod with (I believe) unaltered audio which can only be used with emulators or a Dreamcast SD card reader like a GDemu. I'm pretty sure the image files are larger than 1GB each, so they wouldn't even fit on an actual GD-ROM.

the more i watch videos of this game, the more i want to play it, but i cannot, this game only exist in the past! why no one make something similar for today? there are thousand similar fighting games following street fighter, but no game is like this i wonder why? i can hardly find any chinese culture or even chinese scenary in other games, this is why i like sr3 or sega rally online arcade so much even though it has only one chinese stage. honestly i have not much interest in sega games, but i'm starting to love them more now!

If your computer is good enough, you can play the Shenmue games through Dreamcast emulation. I recommend NullDC or Demul. Demul is what I used to make this "movie" and its predecessor, Shenmue: The Movie Remastered.

When Shenmue 3 comes out there should be both English and Japanese dubbed for sure. I also hope that the graphics of the characters don't change a whole lot.. I saw how ryo is going to look and I'm sorta disappointed. But let's just see what happens.. It's still in the makes right?

That model isn't final. Don't worry, Suzuki-san has far higher standards than any fan of the series. Shenmue III will be greater than any of us can imagine at this time. I'd bet my life on it.

What version is this you used??. obviously an English mod for the dc but the one I used had very bad quality audio and yours sounds equal to the xbox version.

It' a version with uncompressed audio meant specifically for emulators. The discs are over 1GB each, so using them on a real Dreamcast would be impossible.

Mr .357 I was trying to locate a copy such as that online. I have a GDEMU so sure it would work with that, however I seem to only find the 80 min and 99min versions. I've got the 99min but sounds considerably worse than the version used within your movie. If you could point me in the direction? I've looked on Dojo too and sources online.
