Hey Zoffinger, great job on this build. Hand crafting is always a huge plus. Maybe check out the larger selection of RC 12 and 24 volt Jetboat drives. They should be small enough to fit within the kayaks hull, how many is up to you.

Fantastic bruv! The RANGE on this rig -- with say a 15 liter gas tank -- would be HUGE! Here's an idea for a follow on vid: Since it's hard to make turns (reaching way out with throttle / steerer extension), how about rigging a simple foot-pedal cable guide system that turns motor left-right and runs controls to front of 'boat'. Also, use a simple cable / housing throttle / gear controller to run to a simple hand control mounted on front starboard side. That way you can just face forward the whole time and CRUISE... YEAH BABY !

My brother was given a jet ski that ran, but the hull was damaged. He cut the engine and drivetrain out of the ski, and mounted it in the back of a square back canoe. When he hit the throttle, all it wanted to do was stand straight up under power. Even with a passenger in the front, he couldn’t keep the front down under power.

get like a brigs and Stratton motor mount it on a swivel install a clutch and a really long shaft with a propeller on it. that way more force pushing forward instead of down, it would be easier to run controls and you wont have to be turned around so much only issue would be no reverse.
@mairinmactavish314 жыл бұрын
Wow. On a 12 foot yak and a 5 hp motor, that's cooking. Has to get on plane for that speed. I have to wonder if doing some radical hull design (like, making a sort of deep vee hull) would improve its performance.

@GreencardFan4 жыл бұрын
I wonder what you could come up with in the hydrofoil department? Maybe something that can be lowered into the water once planing speed is reached? It could raise the bow out of the water for a even smoother and faster ride as well as a better view. Using fiberglass to create the wing might be too heavy but it would create lift with one side straight and the other curved. You could raise the entire bow a foot higher while slicing through the water with overall smaller surface contact area.
