Great review 👍 People should remember that a "flagship" is not simply the fastest or the biggest or most expensive, but it's a top of the range sum of its parts. That camera, the fluidity of everything, the build quality which is exemplary but simple without frills, the way everything works with everything else, the thought behind everything, makes the whole package a very desirable one.

I have an iPhone 11 and was planning for an iPhone 12 or a Pixel. Had a Pixel 2 XL in the past and It was one of the best 2 phones I have used .Time to go back! Google is being “humble” again like in the nexus days. The Pixel and Google’s approach suits me. Thanks Aaron

@@achandab everybody is different. I had oneplus 8 pro and I was very disappointed. I would exchange it for a pixel 2 xl. I like to change between ios and android, and always have a backup iOS device. So disappointment is not an option

Just got this baby! This is a great buy and there's nothing to regret. Most importantly, call quality is just fine. Nothing to worry about but of course I have had better. If you are willing to buy this phone, go and get it. The Adaptive Sound option also improves speaker quality but not the call quality. However, call quality is pretty ok. I have used in quiet, noisy environments and found nothing wrong. Thanks.

I would love to see this too, I have a pixel 4 XL, and my girlfriend is wanting to upgrade from her current iPhone XR, she fancies a pixel but I don't know if she should stick with iPhone depending on how well the mid-range processor of the pixel 5 holds up. She's not a heavy user or a gamer but don't want her to be disappointed with her first taste of android.

I was nervous about the speakers but they sound fine to me and I use a Bluetooth speaker anyway so no worries👍 Edit: it reminds me of my Nexus 5x now you mention it, I loved that phone... dropped it on its arse no end of times, tough little thing lol, I really missed it when it died of the boot loop. Thinking of upgrading my Pixel 3 xl & I'm hoping it's not a downgrade, but from what I've heard it's not so Idk. Would love to see a longer term review.

What I like about this phone, its compact! This is solid package until... iPhone 12 mini enter the competition. With same price but have smaller factor, greatest chip, typically flagship Apple features, and future proof iOS update. Just curious about its battery. But, since Pixel 5 has symmetrical al around bezzel, its more sleeker with punch hole instead of big notch on iPhone.

Go read XDA developpers review of Pixel 5, the Pixel is faster than Samsung S20 FE or One Plus 8T. Despite a slower SOC..

HK S It's worth noting that just because the Pixel 5 opened some apps faster and had less frame drops than the OnePlus and S20 in that XDA test, it doesn't necessarily mean the former is a faster phone. As to why the S20 with supposedly a faster processor performed quite poorly in app opening, basically you have different variables to deal with here, from poor software optimization, long animation and transition effects to under the hood improvements (library & SQLite) in android 11 (both the S20 and OnePlus Nord are still on android 10). Other people have mentioned that the Pixel 5 takes considerably longer time to process HDR photos than last year's Pixel 4. While I do agree that most if not all Pixel phones are generally smoother than other android phones when it comes to system UI and animation/effects, it is in heavy tasks like photo processing, video rendering, 3D gaming that the midrange processor in Pixel 5 falls behind. While I appreciate Google optimizing the heck out of the 765G chip, you can't beat physics, the Pixel simply has a slower processor compared to flagship phones with a faster processor like the S20.

You can shot many pictures without problem but if you want to see them it's take 3 seconds max for the SOC to do his magic. With my Pixel 4, you don't have to wait.

HK S That's my main concern about the Pixel 5. It's a smooth & speedy phone for general use (texting, social media, youtube, web browsing), but you can definitely tell the lack of processing power as soon as you perform heavy tasks such as HDR+ photo processing. It's not as slow as the Pixel 3a, but it's definitely not as fast as last year's Pixel 4 too.

Talking about the aluminum and gorilla glass 6. Do you need to buy screen protector or even a phone case? They put a texture and style to these phones but what does it matter if you have to cover it. I am waiting on the day were you do not need to purchase cases and enjoy the phone for the design.

I think the new iPhones probably be good without cases since scare is sides feel like it be easier to grip but I would always use a tempered glass to always have a scratch free screen :)
