I'm so happy you ended up talking about Apache Air Assault! You Said the game was arcade-y, however, if you wish to, there was a difficulty setting that allowed you to have advanced controls, and these felt very similar to War thunder's system, and allowed you to do some funky stuff. Aside from the campagn, there was also a bunch of side missions that felt very unique. The very first one gave you an Apache that had no hellfires, and you had to destroy a tank collumn before it reached an ennemy base. Man that game was dope, even thought it was very straight forward. Бумер (Bumer/Bimmer) I got by exchanging games back when I was still in early middle school (haven't beaten one of the car shootout parts and gave up). Adrenalin: Extreme Show was a must-play game for a kid who loved Flat Out , spent hundreds of hours in it. (I had to sneak this in without the knowledge of my parents because of the "hot babes" in the racing game) Most of these I at least heard of or "trial" versions were provided with tech and gaming magazines back when those were still a thing. Ил-2 Штурмовик (or Wings of Prey in some markets) was a hit of the hits and was the catapult they needed to go big ty for bringing back the nostalgia

God I played the hell out of Il 2 Sturmovik on Xbox 360 (good game but a fair few problems) But Birds of Steel OH MAN Birds of Steel Only counting console games, there is maybe NO GAME I played more as a kid than Birds of Steel. Probably my first real war-based video game (unless you count Lego Star Wars). I vividly remember playing those missions, ones like "The Two Against 39" or "To Scratch One Flattop" as a kid and almost feeling like I was there. I wasnt just playing a video game. I was defending my brothers on Wake Island, and even tho I knew the history well, desperately hoping that USS Enterprise (CV-6) would mount that horizon and save us. I unlocked every. single. thing. in that game. And as far as the main American campaign goes, I beat it in a matter of...... 4 days? Maybe 5? When I started playing War Thunder I had NO idea they were made by the same company until the snail stared me dead in the eyes and the music brought me back to being the first American pilot to go toe to toe with the Japanese over Pearl Harbour, or fighting my way through clouds of Zero's to deliver Hiryou her final fate.

that's one thing that's stumped me between apache air assault and warthunder is the damage models, when valkyries update came out the heli damage models were the same and the pylons could be shot off making you loose access to rocket pods but now that damage models long gone, but it is still seperate from the fuselage damage model

11:45 I've literally just run into MQ-8 today, for the first time, while looking for some MQ-1 drone photos while playing Stormworks. What a coincidence lol

As a kid, I loved "Apache Air Assault," especially because I had family that were pilots for the US Army. It was always fun to come home from school and play with my younger brother. We always crashed and mostly didn't know what we were doing, but it was the best helicopter-based alternative that we ever played.
