BOOX Note Air 2 Review and comparison to the reMarkable 2.
There are a LOT of things this device can do, but does it spread itself too thin trying to do too much?
We spent a month using this daily. Enjoy our review!

Hi there great vid I have this device and had no issues with any of the apps working. It was super clear to set up as it was all in the setup instructions manual on the device. There was also a single card in the box stating that you must login/setup a Google account first before you do anything. Maybe the device you had was one of the first and they’ve added the card since then? Great vid though 😉

Best regards

Thank you for a very comprehensive review. Did it work well with A4 sized PDF books? Did that drain the battery very quickly?

Thanks for the review ! Tho , I don't see why the kindle store is a positive, it is more of a bloatware than useful software. Overall the note air 2 seems really good but for the price, i kinda wish it came with one of the latest color e-ink screens because I want to be able to read digital comics in the full glorywith ruining my eyesight. I guess I'll wait for onyx the finally make something worth to buy.

Hello, thanks for an informative video. I am thinking of buying note air soon. what are your thoughts on buying an android 10 device when android 11 is available in note air 2? Note air is currently offered on discount at good price so seems like a good option. Like if we ignore everything else, does a newer version of android on a device is able to justify a higher price?

What firmware version were you using while putting this together? I appreciate your honest presentation of the software's bugs and I'm curious whether this is reflective of their latest updates.

@@TruthReviews How frequent are the updates? Chinese companies don't have a great track record when it comes to software support. You're usually stuck running some old version of Android from years ago on a no-name Chinese Android tablet.

Can you hide/delete apps from the device? I want to eliminate distractions, and mainly use it as a digital notebook (but I don't want remarkable where I have to pay a subscription for backing up my notes)

I didn't have the google play problem at all FWIW. There has been a firmware update since this vid was made and that seemed to make google play work much more smoothly. However the wider point that this tablet doesn't really value your time still stands - there is a huge amount of fiddling to do with it before it works for your use case. I think it's such a unique and specific product type that anyone who buys it is effectively a beta tester!

How well does this function if not utilizing all the extra stuff? Can all the extras be removed? I am looking for an e-ink tablet simply for the sole purpose of uploading Word/epub/pdf versions of my novels to revise, like I would if I was printing one off and writing all my revisions in pen. I don't need to send it back to my pc, and want to delete when I'm done. I hate to revise directly on my pc because all that extra added time staring at the screen beyond writing is hard on my eyes and I end up with headaches. So I revise on paper, but I am tired of wasting 300 pages and all that ink every time I print a draft to revise. All the extra apps and other distractions aren't necessary. If those aren't used/removed (if they can be removed), would this function more smoothly? Or am I better off with another device? I am having such a hard time distinguishing between all the different tablets for what I need.

If you dont need to store files online or you don't need to send the files back to your computer then you could give this a go as they have a free returns policy (check your area though as this may differ from region to region.) The Boox has all those features you need to pay for on this but at no extra cost. Honestly, both this and the Boox have a lot of shortcomings but being able to convert your handwriting to text is such a basic feature that reMarkable charge for now, which is ridiculous. I have been surprised the number of people I have told to try this and return it if they don't like it and had them try this and an iPad and end up going with an iPad considering the price is almost identical. Personally I would say if you need an e-ink display try the Boox if you can find somewhere that has it with a decent returns policy so you can return it if you do not like it. Overall, I am personally going to wait until the next revision of the Boox, there is just too much sacrifice, more so with the reMarkable, in e-ink note taking devices right now.

@@TruthReviews thank you! I very much appreciate the help. I did end up pre-ordering a SuperNote today. I've spent the better part of the last 3 weeks watching videos and reading comments, scouring the websites, and asking questions. I was really interested in both the reMarkable and the Boox, but for whatever reason I kept coming back to the SuperNote. Didn't like the idea that it's in pre-order stage (yay Covid), but I decided to bite the bullet. I'm hoping that it's everything it's cracked up to be. Hope you enjoy your weekend as well!

Considering how close the price is and how much more you can do with an iPad this end up being my recommendation for a lot of people when I ask them everything they would ideally want from such a device.

Dude, the thing with this device is the e-ink display, to help keep your eyes healthy. Is not about fun, playing games or watching videos. This is for productivity, to read, learn, study, coding, emails, not a toy ...

I wish I saw your comment before I bought the Note Airs. Big mistake. If you buy one of these cross your finger as they are apparently hit or miss when it comes to the build quality. Also their costumer service is horrible. Is been weeks and I’m still waiting for a reply as there is no phone number to talk to them in person, is a sign of getting too many call due to their cheap products.
