Hi Dave, enjoying your tutorials. I have been using Microsoft OneNote to assist in my lessons. Like your screen sharing option, it allows student and teacher to see the same piece of music and annotations in real time. You are also then able to pick up from where you left off. Keep up the good work!

That's a great idea!

Once again very well explained and I love the idea of just making your own white board simple but dead right for the job

Glad you found it useful. The custom white board is a simple idea with so many different applications. :-)

This video is amazing! I'm amazed there aren't more views. However the like ratio speaks for itself lol. Thanks for all the information 🙏

Awesome videos. About main video camera you’re using. What is it? I’m thinking about teaching woodwinds with zoom and besides the audio, I need a good clear picture. My IPad and IPhone are too grainy for me.

Hey Allan. For my KZbin channel I film with a Canon 80D. For zoom lessons, I mostly use the camera built in to my macbook pro. I also have a Logitec 920 which is probably a bit better, that's at the studio. Multi camera is possible. There are a few options: first cheapest option is to set up multiple zoom accounts on your various devices and all join the same meeting (mute the audio on all but one device). Second option would be to use a couple of webcams and switch between them in zoom. The third option would be to use something like the Blackmagic ATEM mini and switch between DSLRs, Mirrorless or GoPros from that. The final setup would be epic, but you'd have to do a fair amount of teaching to recoup the investment... :-)

davespeakmanmusic thanks for the info. I couldn’t get 920’s because the factory couldn’t keep up with the demand. They’re going for 3x the normal price on eBay. I was able to buy 2 Zoom cameras and use them as webcams. I’m using the audio and video from one camera and only the video from the other.

Hi Dave, Beautiful tutorial! How do you get Spotify to play right away with out using screen share?

Hi Adam. It just works like that on a mac without changing anything... :-)

Great !! the problem i get with the white board or writing on a PDF is that when you roll the note down to see the bottom of the PDF, what you wrote stays in place !! it s very annoying with big documents ! I'm then obliged to use drawboard PDF rather than ZOOM ; i d like to, it s quicker with a wacom :-( JF ...bests regards from Colmar , FR

Yes, it is really annoying!!! All the best :-)

Nice one Dave! Looks like your set-up is good on the one camera, but I'm constantly tweaking the laptop to show either my face or the guitar. Have you looked into using more than one camera angle at once through Zoom? OBS looks like it would be ideal for this, but the required plugin doesn't work on Mac.

Hey mate! I literally move my hand closer to the camera on my mac! You can set up a webcam and then switch between them in zoom (shift CMD N to switch quickly). You could also set up a separate account on your phone or tablet and then join the meeting from that to have two views all the time... Hope you're well mate :-)

You might look into Ecamm live. It will allow you to use a DSLR as a web cam and switch between as many cameras as you like. Works great!

Also is there a way where I would be able to work on a Logic Pro project with a student remotely so that his guitar or voice audio can be recorded straight through to the project without him having to send me an audio file?
@davespeakmanmusic4 жыл бұрын
Hello. There is an article in collaborative recording in this month's Sound on Sound magazine. (The short answer is no!). Internet speeds are absolutely nowhere near what is needed for that. Perhaps 5G will be quick enough.

This was very helpful. Some of the problems I have encountered with online lessons are more to do with audio quality at the student's end. Also, is that whiteboard a feature of Zoom? I have only used Skype so far.
@davespeakmanmusic4 жыл бұрын
Hello. The whiteboard and marking up features are all within zoom, yes. I did another video about Zoom audio quality, perhaps it would be useful to some of your students: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZLCdYymjcxpidE

Is that a custom keyboard or are those just stickers on the keys?
