Hallo Severin Lais, doch die Herren bei VW beschäftigen sich damit - daraus ergeben sich manchmal sehr unangenehme Reparaturvorgaben für den Werkstattbereich. Es ist unser Aller Bestreben, hier Ansätze für die freie Werkstatt zu finden welche zum Einen fachgerecht, zum anderen jedoch wirtschaftlich tragbar sind - deshalb - nicht alles auf die Goldwaage legen... Hello Aleks5402, thanks for your Feedback - but honestly, for me it´s not absolutely clear what you are talking about in detail. I want to avoid misunderstanding in any way, maybe it´s better to asked more detailed. Normally, in case of changing any liners or sleeves there should be no relevant negative effect. Sometimes the design changes a little, yes also with influences on the function - but the main idea, the main goal, is always to develop solution which are better. In case of replacement solutions the should be equal. As a fact of this I would have no doubts for engine durability. One thing - some works on this engine are not according to the VW advise, these solution are repair solutions which are not like new parts or a exchange engine - here the worker has to find the correct balance. Thank you for the reply. But I meant this. This R5 block from the factory has a special coating cylinders. It eventually crumbles and is beyond repair, the engine block has to be thrown away. In your video, I think, in the cylinder block,equipped with a special insert liner. Like here for example www.ebay.de/itm/Zylinderlaufbuchse-GOETZE-14-020420-00-/161465458674?hash=item2598175ff2 How long the engine will run after such a repair? Thank you.

Hello once again, now I understand completely, yes this type of engine (and some more) have an alloy block with Aluminum-Silicon (AlSi) surfaces. Some newer engines are Plasma coated. In most cases of repair the engine rebuilder uses a press-fit liner sleeve to replace the original surface by a standard steel one. Yes, there are some technical influences in matters of thermal behaviour for example. But nevertheless it´s an attractive solution for an old car - it´s not too expensive and also good for a high mileage. But you are right, it´s different to OE business. But last not least - it´s a successful story, you can trust in if the repairing was made by professionals. Kind regards Elring Service Team

Nie do końca poprawnie skręcił koło wałka rozrządu! Znacznik tarczy koła na równo z płaszczyzna głowicy, przyłapać śrubę, zrobić napięcie koła na przyrządzie 70nm i dokręcić śrubę 50nm. Później zdjąć przyrząd, założyć blokadę koła i dokręcić śrubę 150nm +90⁰. Podkładka diamentowa i śruba nowa powinna być.

Hello, no worries, this is a Volkswagen R5 TDI engine, used for example in Vanagon, Touareg and more. The tools are original VW, you can order at the official dealership. Zum aussuchen der passenden Zylinderkopf dichtung bei manchen Motoren gibt es verschiedene Stärken sonst würde in diesem Fall der kolben oben anschlagen im Zylinderkopf

Die Dichtungen gibt es in verschiedenen Stärken, wegen Fertigungstoleranzen des Zylinderkopfes. Es geht hier ganz genau her, damit der Hubraum und damit die Verdichtung stimmt.

Hallo Jose, ich selbst war beim Aus- und Einbau an diesem Motor nicht dabei. Was ich sicher sagen kann, wir folgen immer den Vorgaben des Motorherstellers - und VW schreibt im Leitfaden vor die Zahnräder zu demontieren. Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass dies zur einfacheren Montage und zur Einstellung der Steuerzeiten nötig ist. Eventuell auch um die Spezialwerkzeuge anwenden zu können oder die Erreichbarkeit von Bolzen und Schrauben sicher zu stellen. Ich weiß, dass es manchmal Lösungen gibt die einen empfohlenen Reparaturschritt auslassen, dies aber oft gepaart mit einem Risiko welches zu Lasten des Monteurs geht. Wir empfehlen so vorzugehen wie es von VW vorgegeben wird, daher sind die Stirnräder zu demontieren. Gruß vom Service Team

B5 2.7 Biturbo Freak ist eine ganz normale messuhr die auf 0,01 mm anzeigt wie z.b.: hoch..eben ect. etwas ist. wird häufig verwendet auch zb in meinem beruf (cnc fräser).

Hello and THX for your comment - I fully agree with you, this engine is a challenge for all repairers in the garages. Tricky to work on the head or the CHG because of the timing gears. Read the OE recommendations, not too many repairs are allowed. This is why we picked this engine, there are several ways to repair, but Know-How is essential. Kind regards from our Service Team
