Those two have a great relationship. When she was born Roger came home one day with this amazing look on his face. I said "have you won lotto?" and he said - bless him -" no, I've just been cuddling my granddaughter." And she is a canny buyer. Had it all done in a few hours. No fuss. Back to minis, A coat of polish will make that floor zing I am thinking.

@ I love hearing that! Children so need adults who love them so much! And both sides benefit so dearly - grandchildren and grandparents alike! My husband and I weren’t able to have our own children …but are so grateful for dear families who have shared their little ones with us through the years so we think of as “our grandchildren!” Yes, back to minis! I’m making some clothes today - using the old doll pattern book I found recently at the used bookstore! Such fun! Also, I’ve not forgotten about sending you some photos of my fairytale dollhouse (very much still in process, due to my husband continuing to recover from him back surgery). He sees his surgeon this coming week - we are so hoping he gets the “all’s good!” Then, his life can become more normal and I can also get more back to more normalcy with my dollhouses. The last few weeks, I haven’t felt comfortable being in my art studio very often in case my husband needs something, etc. Being able to work on the doll clothes in our house - and not my studio- has been great! I promise by the end of the year …. I will send you some pics of at least a couple of fairytale dollhouse rooms - which are almost done! Happy creating, as always to you! 💙 Kathleen

I quite agree Diane. I am thoroughly disenchanted with the click bait system and the way weather is sensationalised. Our weather forecasts are almost always incorrect. Our town often has blue sky over it while thunder clouds barrel past both sides of it.

Yep, I would say that in England in Tudor times it got very cold. They were in a small ice age. And fireplaces would have been a major source of light then as well. They were also a status symbol as previous houses had holes in the roof for smoke to exit. Chimneys came into their own in the 14 hundreds.

Thank you so much. I am fortunate to have good hand/eye coordination. And I suppose the brain works realatively ok. I just like sharing what I can stretch myself to do, and motivate others.

I was pleased with the effect and I think the spray paint will seal that clay nicely. Temperatures sound moderate. Nice winter weather. I went to a Kachina rain ceremony once somewhere in the middle between Scotsdale and Santa Fe. As we left a drop of rain splattered on the windscreen. Only one drop though.

Everywhere in the world people are struggling to cope with this extreme weather. It makes my hobby seem a bit trivial. But again, I think making small stuff helps dealing with the big stuff sometimes. Keep yourself warm and dry.

Mother Nature is sure paying us back. There is no way to anticipate most of this flooding and snow etc. We just have to be flexible and stay in our warm little rooms and make minis.

Hi Diane, It is an extra light air dry clay and it has to be painted and sealed quite quickly after drying or it gets too curly. If you weight it down it gets compressed. I am still learning about it. I will try to dry it slowly and see if that helps. Bit hard now with our hot days.

Well, it iturned out ok.

You did know, Susan, that laundry is out of bounds for me after I left a white tissue in a pocket of a pair of black pants. So I have found lots of other ways to use up Roger's pegs. Ha ha.

New Zealand used to have a moderate climate but it has got hotter like everywhere else. And then just when you are worried about it, you get snow down south in November! But we are expecting high temperatures - around 30 celcius - on our summer days. Where we are we excape the humidity that Auckland gets.

I hope so! It is a project that throws up all sorts of challenges.

I actually don't know where to start my linenfold wood carving either. It will just be trial and error I think.

I cannot say boredom is a promblem in my life. There is always something I want to try out. I hope the media are hyping up your weather over there and it is not so bad as we think. Sensationalising weather interposed with war and bombings seems to be the pattern on TV news these days. So depressing. So keep yourself cosy.

We do have a lot of cheeky birds around here. It is grape country and they are eagerly awaiting the time the grapes turn colour. Meanwhile we net our vegetables and strawberries. Thank you for your kind remarks. Love the feedback.

There will be four floors to this house. I'm glad I am inspiring you. I feel it is an amazing hobby that uses all sorts of creative brain cells and keeps us mentally healthy if nothing else. I make my dolls. I have covered them off in several videos. The last one was about a week ago when I made Mr. Penny.

Yes I am having some fun with this clay. And fortunately I love making turnips. Roger has just sowed some turnip seed in the garden. Keep cosy.

I have made the vegetables by hand leaf by leaf. They look more realistic that way. We are on the 45 parellel South and just going into Summer which I feel is going to be a lot hotter than usual. I have been to Arizona and loved it.

@miniaturetimetraveller you do an amazing job on those leaves. Have you ever shown how to do them on video?

It would have been very embarrassing if it turned out too small. As it is I cribbed some more space either side as an overhang just to make it look roomier.

@ thanks much! We are farther from the coast, so we escaped the “weather bomb.” Instead we’ve been getting rain, rain, rain. Thus, we have been living with slush, slush, slush! I’d prefer snow! No doubt, it will come back to the woods here soon! ❄️

Thank you Diane. I will try felting the pheasants. We don't have them in the wild here. Nor foxes although they were a problem on my farm in Australia. New Zealand is fox free, snake free with only one poisoness native spider. I hope you are keeping warm and not too impacted by Storm Bert. It looks dreadful on our TV. Don't like to say it but yesterday and today top temperature was 26 degrees celcius. We are in our shorts!

@miniaturetimetraveller the storm hasn't really hit where I live, it's a bit breezy with a few rain showers, the temperature has lifted through about 10.F I think the Pennines have blocked most of it from hitting Yorkshire, the rain we had at weekend and the snow melt will probably cause flooding in some places though, I don't live near any rivers thankfully. I knew there were no snakes etc in NZ, I had always thought foxes were a just European animals until I saw them on American videos, so I assumed they were everywhere after that, we live and learn lol, it's dark here at about 4 pm now , but it's less than a month until the shortest day, hopefully winter won't be too cold. Enjoy your nice weather ☀️

I have not been thinking about how tall. But if every floor is about 12 cm it will be getting onto half a metre high when finished.
